I already have birth certificate and SSN

Are there any other special requiremenst to obtain passport? I know that in some cases, child can get other conutry (non USC) passport as well. What are the pros and cons?

If the child is born in the US, all you need is the birth certificate and (I guess, since I don't have kids yet) authorization from both the parents.

Getting the other citizenship depends on the other country laws. Each country is different and you will have to double check.

If it's permitted, I would definitely go for it. Having two citizenships is definitely better than having one.

India does allow dual citizenship (my sister is a a dual citizen - US and India) - they have an application that you can download from the consulate's website. Congratulations and Good Luck

added: I think other than traveling and buying property in India etc. - there doesn't seem to be too many benefits, but it doesn't hurt I guess.

India does allow dual citizenship (my sister is a a dual citizen - US and India) - they have an application that you can download from the consulate's website. Congratulations and Good Luck

motu, OCI is not true-dual citizenship (holders cannot hold an Indian passport, or vote in Indian elections, and are also barred from certain jobs).

My son's US passport just arrived today.Just present child's Birth Certificate, fill up the application form,pay the fees and both the parents should be there when you apply.
