My husband got me The Hunger Games trilogy by Suzanne Collins for Christmas, and that was an excellent read. I've also read Little (Grrl) Lost by Charles deLint, The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman, and the Shadow trilogy by Brent Weeks. The first two authors can do no wrong in my eyes, and the latter was surprisingly good.

Up next is a book from George RR Martin's Wild Card series. Then off to a few of Roger Zelazny's works.

Holding my nose and jumping off the cliff.. hope I don't hit any rocks in the water.

Anybody have any good recommendations for any good new books? I will be flying to Canada in a few weeks and would like to pick up something for the plane. Hopefully Emma will sleep on the plane and let me do some reading!!

Oooh, glad I stumbled across this topic! I need some good books. I just started reading the Hunger Games.

"The Help" was a great read, "Forgotten Garden" by Kate Morton (all 3 of her books are good), "Water for Elephants"

Sorry! Yes they have a movie coming out for both The Help and already Water for Elephants. I can't wait to see them! Movies are still never as good as the books though...

Hope this helps (here are a few more too!)

The Help - Kathryn Stockett

Forgotten Garden - Kate Morton

Water for Elephants - Sara Gruen

Sarah's Key - Tatiana deRosnay (spelling?)

Girl with the dragon tattoo series (excellent!)

Well, I've been going through an Alpine reading kick since Winter. I've read virtually everything I can get my hands on about climbing Mt Everest, K-2 and other summits in the Himalayas and Karakorum ranges. I'm just finishing "Forever on the Mountain" by James Tabor about the 1967 disaster on Mt. McKinley (Denali) in Alaska, and "Mountain Madness" by Robert Birkby, a biography of Scott Fischer, one of the biggies in mountain climbing who died in the Everest disaster of 1996. I find the accounts fascinating although I know I will never be more than an armchair mountain climber myself.
