Hi all, I finally took my oath today. It was very nice and moving. I updated my citizenship record at the social security office, was too tired to go to the dmv and passport office, will do that first thing in the morning tomorrow. I can't believe i'm done with USCIS yahooooooooooooooooooo..:wow: :wow: :rofl::dance::devil: :devil: :wow: :wow:

Hello everybody , Finally I have my Oath on monday 21, was really nice so now I am a Citizen of this wonderful nation. thanks to everybody for the support and congratulation to all of you and good luck to all still wating.

I must say, the oath ceremony was exhilirating, but being in a room with thousands of new citizens still made me feel like I was just getting off the boat. When the blue passport came in the mail, I felt like it was the period or exclamation point at the end of the sentence. This is it! I am an American!

I agree. Although in my wife's case, she still has to go to the DMV to get her driver's license updated to indicate she's a citizen before she can register to vote.

Better late than never. I had my oath ceremony on Sep 18th at Kansas City...58 people from 31 countries. It was a short and nice ceremony. I was worried as I had a name change - but I did not have to. My naturalization certificate came with a court ordered legal name change certificate.

After the ceremony, I enrolled to vote and picked my passport application. I made a list of 30 different places where I would need to change my name. I went to the SSN office and made the change. I got the new card in 10 days. I also changed my Driver's license. The name change certificate was enough to do all this. I have applied for the passport and I'm waiting on it. I'm almost done calling everyone from my bank to credit cards to utility companies to let know of the name change - some are easy to do and some needed to see an application by fax or email. I hope to get my passport soon and then I will be done !!!

Thanks to everyone here who helped me in many ways thru this arduous journey. Good luck all !!

Congratulations!

I have yet to send out my application. Just need the passport photos which I'll be doing at Walgreens later on this week.

I've noticed that for most of you it took 5-6 months.

When I received the application by mail the first time (before I realized I could do it online) I received a pink slip that basically told me to send it over to the office in Miami instead of the one in Texas. I just wanted to ask how long did the process take for those of you who sent it directly to the Miami office. Just curious is all. :)

I filed for Naturalization on 10/23 via regular USPS mail.

The check got cashed on 3 days later, on 10/26 (wow, they really didn't delay when it came to that!!)

The NOA (I-797c, application receipt) is dated Oct 29, and was in my mailbox Oct 31 (I think, don't remember 100%).

Today I got the second NOA, the appointment for fingerprinting. That will take place on Nov 17.

the USCIS is moving really fast so far, let's hope it stays that way :)
