Case Completed!!!!!!!! Ya Baby!

Well, just as I was about to lose my mind worrying about RFE's, AP's at NVC, missing docs, etc etc.. I called NVC today preparing for another day of disappointment, but operator told me the 2 greatest words I have heard in this journey since "I do"..... "Case Completed!". I was so astonished I nearly fell of my chair. I couldn't believe it so I immediately called AVR afterwards to check, but unfortunately it still said case being reviewed. I got slightly worried again so I called another operator, and she confirmed my case was indeed completed on 3/30/09 and the AVR would be updated in 1-2 days. She said they are now trying to schedule interview, hopefully by 2nd week of April they can confirm a date!!

I am so excited, can't stop jumping up and down, after all this time hunting I can smell the interview now so close!!! All in all, NVC experience was not bad aside from the paranoia.... no RFE's and case was completed in 10 days after scanning of documents. So I have to give NVC it's due, did good and quick work and was responsive, unlike those scrubs at USCIS.

I want to thank all of you VJ'ers who have shared your input, without your advice I probably would have passed out from hypertension by now, lol. For all of you still waiting to hear those magic words, I guarantee you it's worth the wait, so keep being persistent!!

Now as I wait for the interview date, I am reminded that my I-129F packet 3 is collecting dust. I was wondering if it's a good idea now to submit the packet 3 for the K3 visa and try to get an interview through that method? Once the K3 is scheduled, I'm planning on swapping for the CR1. Is this still possible after the CR1 case is completed at NVC or am I too late and have to wait for the NVC to schedule the CR1 directly? If I have to wait for NVC, am I in time for a May interview date or should I expect June?

Thank you all again for your help and best wishes, and I'm here as always to help you guys with whatever I can.

Best,

HSB

Congratulation on case complation.

Well for K3 packet 3, I think, flipping method wont work with the Dhaka Embassy. My K3 is scheduled for an interview after my CR1 interview, even though I submitted my packet 3 couple of weeks before the CR1 interview was been scheduled. Please go to my profile to find the dates.

Otherwise, just stick to CR1. U should be getting a interview date in May as I said before  ... It may be in May 11!!!!

Keep ur fingers crossed....

Good Luck, and pray for us as our interview is coming very soon.

Sonia

congratz on the case complete! I would suggest not confusing the issue with the embassy, you'll have your CR-1 interview scheduled soon best to just wait on that.

It does blow. The RFE is not the usual request I've seen on this forum. My wife (the beneficiary) had previously been in the U.S. on a J1 visa. Apparently, certain J1 holders are obliged to reside in their home countries for at least 2 years, following the completion of their J1 stay in the U.S. Luckily, my wife's J1 does not have the 2-year residency requirement, and even if it did she has has spent more than 2 years, so I am thinking it should be all good. The NVC needs Form DS-2019 (part of the J1 documentation), which shows if the applicant is subject to the 2-year home-country residency requirement or not. I already got the form from wifey - waiting for the letter from NVC and will send back. My attorney also sees this as a non-issue, just a delay of a week or so.
