This is just real quick. We submitted our DS-230 on March 15 and today my husband called the NVC for an update and they said we got an RFE for Question No. 20 on DS-230 which is asking the list of my residence since I was 16. I was born Jan. 1983 and been living in one place since I was a baby. But since they are asking me of my residence SINCE i was 16 so I wrote on the First line From/To : 01/1999 (didnt write anything for To) I filled this form online so I cannot use letters on the date fields so I place the word "Present" instead on the Address field of the form. Then i typed on the 2nd line "Nothing follows"

We are wondering what was my mistake there. Can anyone help me please? Thank you.

They may have wanted the word "PRESENT" in the area for "TO". I know it sound silly but that may be it. When I filled out my DS-230 I hand wrote "PRESENT" after printing off the form.

Should be easy enough to clear up. Good luck!

My husband was also born in 1983. In form, instead of writing 05/1999 to 01/2004, he wrote 05/1983 to 01/2004. Would this cause RFE too since he wrote year from his birth date instead of year when he was 16?

I did something similar and was fine.

I read it somewhere here who got an RFE for this part of the form co'z they wrote the date since they were born. That one gives me an idea to write the date when I was 16. I thought i got it right there but found out that I still have RFE lol this is just making me crazy. Better call the NVC to check if you got RFE for that. Time is running. Goodluck :star:

I thought you cannot mix type written to hand writing on these forms since it would look like someone is forging the document so I typed the word "Present" before the name of my city. I was also thinking it is understandable that it is my present address since they wrote there on the form to start with the present address. :bonk::unsure:

I've not sent any forms yet, but my husband already sent the filled out forms to me just today. Too expensive to re-fill them and send again plus delay in the mailing..... I'll take my chances here..

This to/from thing is also bit confusing. I've read somewhere that the timing can not be overlap but in a way it has to be. For example

Option 1:

01/2004 - PRESENT

05/1983 to 01/2004

Option 2

02/2004 - PRESENT

05/1983 to 01/2004

We've done the way Option 2 is... Again... I hope this does not cause issue.... You're right, this is crazy!!!!!

So i should have answered From/To: 01/1983 - 01/2009? waaaaaah I am really confused now...my husband was supposed to clarify this mistake by calling the NVC but he had to run to work today, so now I have all day to wonder for my mistake. I just can't imagine the time that we are going to spend to redo the form and send it to my husband, then he send it to the NVC. Gosh! This is really stressing me out...and I just had my chemotherapy :bonk:

ell, if your husband has lived his entire life in one place, then you put

01/1983 - PRESENT

I wish mine was this simple ;)

Sorry if we have confused you. The issue I was addressing from your original post was where you placed the word "PRESENT" not the year. Try not to worry too much (easy to say and I know we all worry about every little thing).

If NVC has any common sense they will be able to see that you have the correct info there.

Maybe someone else that has received a RFE regarding question #20 can chime in?

DS-230 Question 20: List below all places you have lived for at least six months since reaching the age of 16, including places in your country of nationality. Begin

with your present residence.

Btw, I am the beneficiary. Yep I live here since birth. Even if i dont put the word "PRESENT" on the "To" field, it is very obvious that it is my present address since that's the only address i typed there...and I even typed on the next line - Nothing Follows.

Ok so i need to redo the form and write there: 01/1983 - PRESENT? Guess i'll just do that today and send it right away together with my wedding anniversary card for my husband. Isn't that sweet? LOL
