I have read the guidelines carefully, and I received finally the NOA1 from the California center, but it didn't give ME any specific directions on what to do next, at all. It just said my husband in Germany would be contacted next. Is there anything I must do now before that???? I'm not dense. Just confused because I thought I would be given specific directions on other forms to fill out, etc. Wow, this is a second job!! Anyone, please help. Thank you.

Unfortunately, you just sit back and wait for NOA2. Might be good to go ahead and get things ready for the interview.

(I'm going for the IR-1 and blowing off the K-3. Even if it takes an extra couple months, it's worth it to not have to deal with USCIS again)

"Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, the wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"

Note:

Please fill out I-130, wait 6 months for approval, then 3 more months for an interview. (Unless of course we've bombed your country into the stone age, then you qualify for expedited processing.)

Welcome to the USA!!!

Just wait. this is the worst stage of the process because there is no way to know when you'll get your NOA2. It could be 2 months, could be 8 months. I didnt do anything because anything you need has to be up to date. For example, I waited 7 months for my NOA2...Just got it recently, Now I am gathering all our emails and chats during that 7 month time as evidence; also, we visited each other during that time and i gathered evidence of trips to be together. as our interview stage nears I am now gathering financial info.

So no, there is nothing you MUST do. Just chat alot with ur fiance, keep records of emails, letters, calls, phone bills, etc and work and save money for your future together! best wishes! hope your noa1 - noa2 waiting time is brief!

"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jere. 29:11

You will have to wait untill USCIS processes your petition and you get the NOA#2 called I-797C Notice of Action . But what i did is prepaired the same package for my fiancee and a photo copy of the NOA#1 and sent it too her , so she has that in hand (allso is good for her to study , to prepaire in interview ). She will eventually need that anyways , goodluck in your journey .

first of all, what kind of visa are you applying for?

if you applied for a k1 and you just got the noa1 you cant do much, just wait until youll get approved. your part is as good as over. your significant other will be contacted by mail by the us embassy in frankfurt with insturctions and forms that he needs to fill out and documents he needs to gather. also you have to prepare an affidavit of support to show that you have enough money to support him when he comes here. remember though, all documents need to be up to date so dont get them ready to soon.

Go to your consulate website and download packet 3 or the instructions for packet 3, as your consulate uses. Start getting all the interview documents ready, translations, police certificates, everything. By the time you have your NOA2, all these documents for the next phase (except medical exam) should be ready and prepared. Save a few last details for just before the interview (I-134 for example) and be ready when it comes. After the NOA2 is no time to find out it will take two months to get a police certificate or "Oops, my fiancee can't get a copy of her divorce certificate" or some such thing. Get everything in your hot little hands now.
