Not interviewing in English - does it hurt our chances?

When I was chatting with G yesterday about the interview, he asked if it had to be in English or if he could talk in Nepali. His English is very good but I think he is just very nervous. I said he could interview in Nepali if he wanted but I wonder if it will hurt our chances? We communicate half-half English-Nepali because I am trying to learn it - the CO will have fun if they read our chats!!

Do you know where interview going to be?

If it is at US embassy, New Delhi then you can request them for interview date in Nepali (I am not sure) or in Hindi language or you can attend interview with spouse as a translator, check with US consulate.

At New Delhi US embassy, they had three counters, English, Hindi and Punjabi.

You can interview in the native language of the country the embassy is in, and sometimes other languages are available too. But it may mean an interpreter needs to be present, and they an miss-translate in rare cases. Also if he does choose to be interviewed in a language other than English, make sure the CO knows you can communicate in that language (being able to communicate in a common language- and you learning his- goes towards showing a bonafide relationship).

Im sure he can do as he feels most comfortable i would think in English would be best if possible but everywhere im sure not everyone can do this. If not English then it requires good proof that the two of you can talk back and forth.

I know ahmed said when he went for his (he did english) he heard a interviewer ask a girl (that wasnt doing english) how do you talk between you two and the girl answered my friend helps us. Then the interviewer said good, denied, then you have your friend to marry him.

No its not really, if they cant talk now then alone what? (as with the other couple) I have found that with Ahmed he had veryyyyyyy good english im talking good, he gets here and its like explaining every word. The simplest thing like go hang that in the closet (closet?) you really will not believe until he is here the things he does not understand> Also its alot of me saying one thing and him hearing another meaning, can get quite confusing at times, and thats what worries me in him getting a job, the boss will give a direction and can he follow it?
