When businesses enter into business agreements, they hire competent people to crawl through these agreements to insure "their" interests are served.

The Govt rarely does this.

If it were believed these bail outs were the way to go, they should have shown more diligence in what it was they were doing, rather than turn around later and act surprised when the tax payers money is wasted or abused.

Agreed.

But should they have thrown our tax dollars at AIG to begin with?

I'd go if I was still unemployed.

Work now cuts into my protesting time.

:Ddon't you hate that!!

I think they are going to the wrong address.

The should be heading down to where Obama lives or to the Capital, after all when you give

a reckless person money and they act recklessly......who is the person at fault?

PLease people, it is not AIG who is to blame.

These are failed businesses Propped up by our elected leaders, they gave them money and actually put clauses in the agreement which allowed them to honor the bonus program.

Now the story is out and the want AIG to wear the Black-hat.

This is the efficiency of Govt.

Serious question:

But what would you have rather seen? Would you have rather AIG just fail completely?

i'm asking, seriously, not to be a brat...

Yeah, but those contracts regarding bonuses normally are proportional to profits, the way things went last year, these guys should be chipping in. Would be interesting to follow that tour on goggle maps especially with street view, if anyone knows the route.

I have 4,720 square feet, but using 2,000 square feet of it for my lab and shop only leaving 2,700 square feet for living area. A lot to clean, wife and I are looking for something smaller with lower taxes. We don't like to impress, just want to be practical.

These were retention bonuses. From what I saw on cspan, Liddy told the committee that no performance bonuses were given out. What burns me is this fear of a lawsuit reason for paying the bonuses. Insurance companies of all industries are famous for taking people to court to get out of paying much less sums of money but suddenly they're lawsuit shy? Puleeeaaase. Something stinks in here and I know Liddy came in after the contracts were written but seriously both he and the Federal Reserve should have been awake enough to catch this and challenge it. I can't wait to see if they are able to make the American people sue AIG. That will be bigger than the OJ case if they air it.

They should stop by your trailer on the way.

We can trade house pics anytime.... and there are enough people here from my city to verify.

Sure, we are all laughing .....at your effort to make your point.

Instead you smugly bash people who might not live in as nice a house as you might (or might not) live.

I prefer to stick to the topic but any time you want to compare houses, I am game.

And what does "believing in American" have to do with your ####### size?

Nothing. I believe in America and that we will solve our problems. I don't sit and wait and hope that the government fails just because the person I voted for didn't get elected.

Son I think you are making Obama out to be a bit bigger than he is.

Obama is not "THE GOVERNMENT".

No one hopes the Govt fails.

Again you are getting the terms of the conversation all mixed again.

Let's go over this slowly once more.

I hope most of Obamas political goals fail.

I hope the country, economy, Govt. people, Stock market, ........ succeed. Heck I even hope you Spooky succeed too!

Now I know it's tough for you big Govt types to grasp but Obama is not "THE Govt" nor "The Country".

I'm not making him out to be anything but what he is, the President, Head Honcho, CEO. Not many businesses are successful when the policies of those in charge fail, are they? Think about it. If Bill Gates failed, where would Microsoft be? The leaders at GM have failed in many ways for years, what it the condition of the company now? So somehow you think all of his political goals can fail and everthing else will be fine? Please, give me some of what your're smoking. It's nonsense.

Obama PWNED!!!!

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."
