Hi guys,

My husband and I are in the process of filling out our DS 230 and I864 to submit and we were wondering if any of you would be kind enough to share you recent experiences with any RFEs you might have gotten from NVC and how you resolved it for your case to be completed.

Your help is greatly appreciated as it would help us all get through NVC with no delays.

Thanks in advance,

GS

I am also wondering how soon you will know that there is RFE.

Our case has been sitting at NVC for weeks. We call twice everyday. Nobody is telling us that we lack any documents.

I was wondering if they would tell us that we have an RFE on a later stage.. I am sure that I would go crazy if that would happen..

I promise to love you in good times and in bad, with all I have to give and all that I am, in the only way I know how -- completely and forever......

Hi Candid (WAVING AT MY GIRL FROM OUR NVC MARCH APPROVAL THREAD) :P I think you should have probably heard about RFEs by now. What a nightmare it will be till we hear the magic words of CASE COMPLETE!!! I can't wait!

But wait, aren't u supposed to count from the day your package was received, hence 03/12?? So technically it has only been in their system for 6 working days now. I believe most VJers aren't getting the case complete till about 10 days into it. So I think yours should be coming ur way soon.

I can't wait to hear those MAGIC WORDS, too! We are always asking the operator.. They are telling us, we receive all that we wanted.. LOL.. Plus the AVR is not telling us anything as well.. They received the package on 9th then put it in their system on 12th.. Husbie just got off the phone with NVC operator.. She told him to call on Monday.. :bonk:

Well, we will still call tomorrow..

Hi everyone. That's a very usefu topic, so people can prevent RFEs rather than react to them.

Our case had an RFE on the DS 230 form Part I, question 20 - I had listed the places I've lived at, but each place only once (list). It turned out I have to order them so that each period since the age I reached 16 is covered.

I hope this helps.

What I learned is that you have to fill out the NVC form extremely carefully, triple check everything, if you don't understand the instructions or they can be misleading call your local embassy or the NVC and ask for clarification.

If you fill out everything correctly the first time you have a chance at being out of there in a month.

A question for those who have been there longer with no RFEs - Have you lived in the states before? Or lived in multiple countries? I am testing a theory that if you have more info on yoru DS230 it takes longer to cross-check it.

Hi Kotana and thank you for taking the time to stop by and comment :) . What exactly did you mean by ur comment, "I had listed the places I lived once". How many times are u supposed to list them? I am confused. Can you please clarify about what you meant by " I had to order them so that each ......is covered"? :help:

It is confusing, that's why i messed up.

Here is what i had:

Hometown - May 2008 - Present

Town X - November 2007 - May 2008

Town Y - May 2007 - November 2007

Here is what I should have had:

Hometown - May 2008 - Present

Town X - November 2007 - May 2008

Town Y - May 2007 - November 2007

Hometown - Age I reached 16 - May 2007

The problem is that the questions says "List the places" it doesn't say list six month periods since you reached 16. Also I had a question of what if I lived somewhere for less than six months at a time but more than six months total? I didn't end up including periods of less than six months, but i think this question is confusing.

Please keep in mind our case hasn't been completed yet, so I hope they accept the correction like this. Will let you know.

Good luck to you!

They received the checlist response (new DS 230) on March 12 and we are still waiting for them to review it. I am going out of my mind! 2 weeks for one stupid line of information.

We have called multiple times and talked to an operator and however much we beg they tell us "it takes 2 to 4 weeks for us to review the rfe information"

good luck to you, hope you get case complete quicker.

Well I attached the IV coversheet, because we didn't want to wait for the coversheet they mail (and good thing cause we haven't gotten it yet) and they processed it in two days. (USPS delivered it to them on March 10 and the AVR system reported it being received on March 12). So the IV cover sheet works just as well.

Write ATTN: DR on the envelope and include a letter saying what you are mailing and why.

good luck!

Glad you posted this. I went and checked our Q20. Here's how ours reads - tell me what you think.

Town X - 5/2002-Present

Town Y - 9/2005-Present

Town Z - 11/1988-5/2002

Home town - 11/1973-11/1988

You see he has two businesses one in town x and one in town y. We used town y as his residence for our marriage certificate that's the only reason we included it.
