My old boss had it done and she was probably one of the few where it went wrong (and she went to Harley St in London). She had to go back numerous times.

I had mine done in 1996 and came out with 20/10 for both eyes. I has my eye exam done recently and I'm now at 20/20. Painless, fast and extremely well done. The key is to go to a reputable clinic, there are many out there who only care about getting your money and not about making you see again. Do your research, get quotes from different places and then make a decision.

The cost depends on where you go. My mum had it done about 6 years ago and it cost that much so you can find it cheaper now. She went from a +7 to -0.5 (they over correct so that in the healing process it adjusts towards 0). They had never tried such a large adjustment before but it was a success.

My wife was told that there is not much point in her getting it done as she is only 25. If she got it done now she would need to get it done again later. Her vision is not hat bad right now, the only problem is she needs special contact lenses that cost her $500 a year. So even if it does cost $3000 then it is a saving in the long run.

If you qualify and can afford it get it done.

I had it done two years ago and love it - I went from wearing my glasses all the time to 20/20 vision - When I did it, I put the money in my health care account, which meant it was deducted in small amounts from each paycheck, so I financed it with no interest. If you factor the cost of glasses, contacts, supplies, etc... over the next 15 - 20 years, it's actually cheaper to have the surgery. I went to a good doctor, and paid about $3500 - Well worth it to me - I know someone who went to one of those "Lasiks Centers" that pop up all over, and she has had problems.

definitely pick a good doctor! These are your eyes, something you will miss if they f it up. Castle and Connely is my bible for specialists! Most of the doctors I see have featured in their lists of americas top...

I'm not sure if I could ever have it done. I've had glasses since I was three and feel they are part of me and make me who I am, I feel quite vunerable without them even though I can still see. I probably couldn't have it done anyway as I'm long sighted and have astigmatism in both eyes.

Some forms of astigmatism can now be corrected through laser eye surgery.

Do you not wear contacts?

Tried contacts, hated wearing them. Apparently, due to the astigmatism, my eyes are a slight rugby ball shape so they wouldn't sit right. This meant I could feel them and my eyes dried out too quickly. My optician said to stick with glasses and I agreed with her! Wearing glasses isn't a big deal for me.

I had lasik surgery done about 10 years ago. I didn't know it at the time, but when I was on the table, he did a procedure in one eye and then said let's set up for the surgery. Or something like that. I asked him what he just did. He said that he had corrected a slight astigmatism and was ready to correct my vision. Because of my eyes, I have one eye which is near sighted and the other far sighted. I love it. Absolutely no regrets. His assistant had her eyes done the same day as mine.

I did check on the doctor and he was the first in the state to perform the surgery. He and a friend of mine had to go to Canada to have their surgeries. My doctor had done many surgeries and no law suits. He just retired due to his health. I think the price is now about $1,000 per eye. I would do it again tomorrow. It does not hurt. You can see right on the table. I could read my watch and tell the time after he finished the first eye.

Check and check on the doctor(s) in your area and see how many surgeries they have performed. You don't want to be their first patient. Good luck on your decision.

The doctor that did the surgery used the machine controls with his barefeet. I don't know how they would do it over at your clinic. But, this Dr used his feet to move the machines. Weird.

It's currently about $2000-2500 in KY. It will be payable in 3 years. It should originally be $3500 but insurance covers part of it that's why only the 2500 will be shouldered by you. I am just scared that if it went wrong, the results are irreversible.
