Hey på er alla!

A newbie from Sweden. Got engaged on New Year's Eve (after having met my-wife-to-be on my b-day back in '98) and we're in the process of compiling everything for the I-129F and should get that sent out next week.

Wish us luck!

HELP ! :help:

Somebody knows what would happen to all my documents which are in the famous sealed brown envelope when i am at the port of entrance in USA?

Will they just check it and give it all back to me or will they check it and keep it?

I ask because we plan to marry the first week I arrive, then we want right away to apply for AOS, but some of the original documents which are required for AOS apply

are in that envelope. Ah and i thought the stress part was done

JLW, they take the envolope from you at your POE and keep it. You don't get the envelope back and since it's sealed you shouldn't open it...

Hi

The stress part will first begin now my friend.

I really hope you didn't open the envelope.

Yes they will keep your papers at the entrance.

When filing your application for AOS you shall send certified copies of the originals.

By the time you are going to the AOS interview, you will see that they have all the papers from the sealed envelope.

They will keep this forever.

Make sure read the AOS instructions very carefully before filing. Your case can be delayed an awful long time if you are not doing this correctly.

There is alot of help on this website here. So swollow whatever experience you can from other people.

I wish you very good luck with your further visajourney.

Oh myyyyyyy ! that is very silly of them to keep it all and ask again for the same things, for instance, I am sure there inside must be my divorce certificate from Sweden, all translated and apostilled. Also the medicals must be there too, since i have none of it and the affidavit, all originals and notarized.

Well, it means a new divorce certificate, translate it and notarized it and of course my personbevis... again! just this time i have to ask someone because I am leaving after tomorrow and since i am not Swedish, have no relative, nobody in this country, hence... i have to ask my ex for it...

Have to go through medicals... again, affidavit... again!

All that seems so illogical, really so ilogical, JAG FATTAR INTE!!!!!!!!

Hey ya'll!

:help:

Does anyone have any experiences to share about K-3? Erityisesti suomalaset? I'm beginning to wonder if maybe we've made a mistake in getting married here in Finland and not filing for K-1 instead. All info, soothing or otherwise would be very welcome...

CR-1 Timeline:

USCIS:

04-30-2008: I-130 Sent

05-08-2008: Received at California Service Center

05-10-2008: NOA 1

05-10-2008: Hard Copy

05-12-2008: Check cashed

07-22-2008: NOA 2

NVC:

10-27-2008: NVC sends an RFE requiring about my J-1 visa two year home country residency requirement. 3 days before the requirement (that never applied to me in the first place) would have become void.

11-7-2008:APPROVED

11-28-2008: Case fowarded to embassy after we get "a little help from our friends"...Interview scheduled for Monday 5th of January

12-30-2008: Interview cancelled by phone. A rude consular officer says "we have our reasons and will call you on monday."

01-05-2009: They don't call, so I call them and re-schedule for 01-07-2008.

01-07-2009: Interview. They don't say we're approved. They don't say that we're not approved. In fact they hardly say anything. No request for more documents or weird questions. They don't want to see any evidence. Just weird. They take my passport though, so most likely we are approved. Or else they just wanted my passport.

01-29-2009: The lovely consular officer tells me I can pick up my visa whenever I like!

01-30-2009: Visa in hand!

Noihin on hyvät neuvot :).

Katotaan, tuleeko suomeksi kirjoittamisesta taas lokaa niskaan...
