Now it's less than a week until I move over to my husband, yayyyy. :dancing: And for some stupid reason, I still worry that I'm gonna get to the border and CBP is gonna tell me "sorry, they made a mistake so your visa's cancelled". Who knew POE would feel worse than the actual interview?!

You'll be fine :) ... You will be with your husband soon and no more goodbyes at airports :)

Hello All,

Happy to be apart of Scandinavians moving to America!!!

Quick question for someone.

My wife is all set with her Interview at the Stockholm Embassy on April 4th.

Does anyone know once we arrive to the U.S how long it takes to get her green card from the USCIS?

I appreciate any help. We are in panic mode a bit, because we screwed up with her police certificate.

Thanks,

The stamp in the passport is as good as a greencard for a year. I think ours took 4 months to come in the mail, but that was longer than average.

3/2/18  E-filed N-400 under 5 year rule

3/26/18 Biometrics

7/2019-12/2019 (Yes, 16- 21 months) Estimated time to interview MSP office.

You will be just fine ? I've never heard of anyone who has been denied entrance in your situation. I understand you though, because I was nervous for the same reason. It took literally 5 minutes for the immigration officer/customs person(whatever they are...) to look over my papers. I arrived in the evening so no one else was in line for green card stamps. Have a great trip, sooo happy for you ?

Ok Great!!! Thanks guys,

Just to fill you in why I was nervous. My police certificate expires May 20th. The embassy told me that my visa will expire when either my medical exam or my police certificate expire. Whichever is first. I thought that meant I needed my green card before that date. I just need to get to the U.S before then. Our interview is on April 4th and we plan to head to the U.S as soon as we get the visa in hand. Hoping on no later than April 20th. Will see.

I really appreciate all the help!! I couldn't have completed this process without your posts and help.

Thanks.

Glad I'm not the only one being nervous for something like that. Thanks for the reassurance. ?

You're gonna need to get a new police cert. I think they've changed staff now so that might have changed but wilth the previous staff at the embassy, the police cert needed to be valid three months after the interview. I know many who got a 221(g) for that issue, myself included. Just to be on the safe side, I would get a new police cert. Better to have it and not need it than the other way around. Thanks for the heads up. I wish I listened to it months ago, but the NVC kept saying I am fine because its valid past my interview date.

We did order one on March 23rd, but because of the 4 day easter break in Sweden, we won't have it in time for the interview. Most likely we will have it a couple days after. So hopefully we get a visa valid until May 20th as they said, if not then we will have to send the police cert in right when we receive it.

Happy packing!!
