Well me and my wife went for her interview today and everything seemed okay. The only paper we didnt have was Her original birth certifcate ( shes the one applying for greencard) But she had a certified translation of the birth certificate and a copy of the birth certifcate.

He asked for it and she said that this what i got and that she thought it was good enough since most people dont speak russian, she thought that a certified copy/translation of her birth certificate would be more then enough. But the interviewer said. OH, I would like to see the original.

Does this mean we may not get approved? Is the original needed?? He didnt say anything else about the birth certificate and he continued our interview. He asked questions about where we met, how long have we been together, where and when did we get married, do we have our own house, do we have joint accounts, he asked if shes working, whens the last place she worked, he asked do i work, what do i do. And general questions like that, And then we showed him some pictures from 3 different albums and he took some pictures and asked her who is this where is this taken at etc..

The only bad thing about our interview was that he wanted her original birth certificate and that we dont have joint bank accounts ( but we have same health benefits, phone contract in both names.)

Also we live at my parents house but we are in the process of looking at houses and he asked where do we live and with who. But we brought real estate papers of houses we are looking at.

So what do you think is going to happen? What happens if you get denied???

We are 100% legitament couple who did everything possibly correct for us to be legally married in the US. So hopefully he sees that and we will not have any problems.

Have you been told by the IO that you need to send the orginal birth certificate of your wife? Have you given an RFE after your interview?

Did you bother asking the IO about whether you were approved or not? Sometimes after the interview, the IO will tell you that you will receive something in the mail if he/she needs something from you.

Good luck!!!

"Have faith in God, Jesus answered. I'll tell you the truth. if anyone says to this mountain, Go, throw yourself to the sea, and that does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen. it will be done for him. Therefore I'll tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours" (MARK 11:22-24)

Yes, you were approved, now you can celebrate! Take a look at the guides for the I-751 just to know what you will need to be collecting for the next go around in 2 years.....Congrats!

No longer in the hands of the USCIS, for my wife at least, next up MIL.

CONGRATULATIONS!

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.
