Hi folks...this is way ahead of the ballgame (if you can see my timeline below)...but this question just popped into my head, so i figured I ask....I was reading instructions (for the future) on the 131, and it said that no fee is required if its filed with the 485. Then I further read, and saw that no fee is required if its based on Advanced Parole or Refugee. Does this imply that a fee is required for plain re-entry? I noticed that if one uses I-131 for Advanced Parole, you need emergency circumstances. On the other hand, what if its just the want or need to have the ability to go back to the native country during Ajsustment Applicant status--is that when you click off "Re-entry" purposes?-- and if its just a plain reentry, then I assume the $305 is required in addition to the $1010. But atleast the I-765 will be free if filed with the I-485.

Again, these questions just popped in, but I am no where close to AOS filing........

Advanced Parole is valid for 1 year from when it is issued and there is no fee if it is applied for with AOS.

It is not just for emergencies. It is an interim benefit while AOS is being processed.

A re-entry permit is for LPRs who plan to be out of the US for a long time (I believe it either for 6 months or one year).

The $1010 includes the I-485, I-765, and I-131. The last 2 are optional temporary benefits used until you receive the greencard.

The I-131 allows re-entry into US from abroad. Once approved, you can travel abroad for any reason (visit family, vacation, etc) and you will be re-admitted into the US. If you do not have this document, you will be denied entry at the POE and will have to go back to home country and apply all over again (this time for spousal visa).

It's recommended to apply for even if you don't plan on using it. You never know what family emergency or what else may come up where you'd have to travel abroad. It's included in the price, so it's good to get it.

Guys, forgot to ask, lets say the AOS package would be my future wife using my last name.---So the Travel and Work Document will be her first name, and my last name. However, if she had to go back home for any reason, and tries to reenter, her Travel Document will be my last name, but her passport will be her maiden name--- is that common, do POEs run into that?
