Last night, I let my neighbor know that I just visited Leidys in Colombia. His question: So, you're trying to bring another one back?

That's so rude of them to say, I don't know why people don't follow the "if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all" rule. Geez.

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

I have been asked this question. To which I usually respond, I found someone just down the road and he turned out to be an abusive @sshole. So I thought I'd look elsewhere. So far, this one is working out just fine.

My conversations tend to go like this:

Yeah, my husband's here on a greencard.

OH? *suspicious look* What country is he from?

Um, Canada.

*person now looks relieved* Canada! Aren't they practically American, anyway? He needs a greencard?

(sarcasm)Y'know, it's all good because I'm not bringing over a dirty Mexican/Muslim/etc. (/sarcasm)

Actually I'm a little jealous of all of you because nobody has asked me that question. :) When I got back from visiting my fiancee the first thing my dad said to me, as I talked endlessly about her, was that I should marry her and move there to live with her. His thought was that I should be where I'm most happy. I thought it strange since he had no idea what my intentions were or that I was even in a relationship that was that serious. After I got back, we went to work to try to get our Petition ready to be sent out and I planned to tell my parents once all the paper work was done and all that. I had so many things that I wanted to say and so many things planned as a rebuttal in case they disapproved of something. My main concern was that they wouldn't understand about meeting online and all that. Turns out I didn't have to say anything. They were both very happy for me and very supportive, as they always have been. I don't even know what gave me the impression that I would need to come up with an "argument" to why I wanted to marry the most wonderful woman in the universe. I really underestimated my parents and my family in this case. Even my 9 year old niece said, "thank God, I was losing hope." LOL!

Our relationship just happened, completely by accident ... but I had traveled to Ukraine once before to look around ...

If anyone goes to the "Mail-Order bride" card ... they get it with both barrels  ... and by the time I'm done with them, they pretty much walk away with their collective tail between their legs ...

I have many, many reasons why I feel I finally found the "right" one from Ukraine. Like it has been said, with today's technology, why limit your search to only one area ... except for all this immigration #######!

I must say some of the major changes in the culture of America had a lot to do with it. I will keep my views/reasons to myself so that I don't offend anyone here B)

Brad & Vika ... the pictures are great you two! Congratulations! I hope you two will be very happy together

Why couldn't you have found someone who lives around here?

united-states-map.gif

It happens to me every time I mention Leidys to friends, family, co-workers, etc.

What about you and your SO?

If someone I knew had the unabashed rudeness to ask such a personal question I wouldn't feel to obligated to be polite with my answer. Sample answers

"Like YOU did.... "

"Who wants to have sex twice a day with an American woman?"

"After living in Ukraine for 2 years American women interest me only as targets for throwing rocks, but they are usually too big to be challenging"

"I don't accept rstrictions on my choices like you do"

"They quit building good wives in this country, I drive an import"

If anyone asks, I just tell them the truth. I signed up for an online dating service. I didn't realize it was international in nature. I told the computer I didn't want to go more than 75 miles away. I guess it ignored me. Not only did it ignore me, it found me TWO wives. Once I've gotten to this point in my story, no one so far has made it past being too fascinated to ask anything but earnest questions from then on.

I really have a tough time convincing people that I didn't meet Viktoria this way. We met over dinner at a friends house here in Kentucky. No computer, no dating service, only my buddy's wife as a facilitator  If pushed, I will usually say "OK - you are right, I went online and there was a sale on Ukrainian women her age - with the special price I just couldn't pass up the deal" I find this much more amusing than she does :help:

Good one Brad!

Thanks Steve, we are off to a pretty good start (as I read you are).

Some of these are pretty good too Gary - although a bit hostile.
