My fiancé in Denmark, we are not Danish, so the birth certificate it's not Danish, it’s not English.

So he needs to translate it to English with certified translator to take it to the embassy. The translator told him that they only allowed translating to Danish. (That’s weird)

My question is: will the embassy will accept it if it’s in Danish and not in English, since this is the country language?

The country u will be filed in is US embassy, they use English n required to translated all the document to ENGLISH.

Have the birth certificate translated to English from the original language. What is the original language?

they said if we need to translate from Arabic to English we need authorization from police office ,they make it so difficuilt .

I never heard about that .

Alternatively, you could have it translated in the country of origin and mailed to you. There's more than one way to get a document translated. Why not follow the translation procedure you would use if in the home country?

Can you find another translator that will do document translations into English? If the consulate requested an English translation of your foreign language document, that is what you should provide.

Why difficult? Your fiance is intending to emigrate to the US, therefore the document translation into English is not an unreasonable request.....nor is a police clearance as that is part of due dilligence to make sure that the beneficiary has no prior criminal record.

no I mean the translation office make it difficuilt ,English is the first language in the world ,why they need authorization to do it in English ,he tried almost all offices in copenhajen and they all said same .

All documents presented at the interview MUST be in English or translated to English. Get another translator who doesn't impose his own policies, procedures, etc on his clients. That's really wierd!

Now, here is another thing. The translator does not need to be certified. The translation needs to be certified. The difference is ANYONE can do the translation, then they must "certify" that the translation is true and correct and have their signature on this certification notarized.

Voila! Certified translation.

This may be close to true for some Consulates but USCIS translation standards for petitions are not binding on Consulates. They are free to set their own standards. At this point, if I were the OP, I would email copenhagenIV@state.gov and explain his problem, present a possible solution and ask for their input. I suspect they'll make allowances for having the birth certificate, police report and other required documents translated abroad if needed.

No, it does not need to be translated!!!! BUT have your fiance go to the person who baptised him and get a copy of his birth certificate in Danish and English. That's what we did. Translation will cost a lot of money and it's not needed. In package 3 from the Danish consulate it states that documentation can be in English OR Danish.

Again just to be safe incase things have changed, have your fiance' go to the person who baptised him and get the birth certificate that is in both langauges. If you want to I can scan my husbands so you can see what it looks like.

The person needing the birth certificate is not Danish and may or may not have been baptized, since they may or may not be Christian.

That's what you get in Denmark- you don't get a standard birth certificate- your birth is registered at a church, therefore you need to get it from a clergyman. However I just saw that they weren't Danish, so yes it needs to be translated to English( if and only if it's in any other langauge than Danish or English)- Thanks for catching my slip up
