Time for the Republicans to get Palin ready for 2012. They should start campaigning now.

Oh just the thought scares me

The failure of President Obama, if you can fail in 3 short weeks, has been his inability to reign in his party in the Senate and Congress. I see his first weeks as a puppet show and Majority Leader Pelosi and others are pulling the strings. To be a president is to lead so he needs to lead and not worry at this point about support from the Democrats for his next term run. I didn't vote for him, but i have respect for the man, but have to say his leadership so far is less than commendable. I actually feel sorry for him because, not only did he inherit an economic disaster, but add to that the pressure of being the first African American President. He has more at stake than just the terrible economy. I would say to him "Mr. president, this is a historic time in America, calling for strong decisive leadership. Let go of party politics and lead this nation and world the same as you ran your campaign, by taking control yourself and not allowing anyone (Nancy Pelosi & Harry Reid) to screw it up for you. It was your key to victory, let it be your key to governing." ( Just my opinion)

People forget the the entire government and other high ranking officials in the financial community are responsible for this mess. One man alone doesn't have the power to fix this country. I'm not saying Bush was a good or bad president. He was just a man with horrible public speaking skills faced with huge new challenges. Would Obama have done a better job in the past 8 years? Who knows?

The galling part is Obama was billed as a new, young, politician transcending old labels but that's fading fast. What happened to taxs cuts for 95% of American taxpayers? Where's the cuts in programs he called for? What happened to all the infrastructure in the stimulus package when it's only about 5-6% of the total? He promised a lot and that's not something new but when you run on hope and change and can't deliver either, he's in trouble. Worse, the guy has more experience in Washington than Bush Jr. or Clinton prior winning their elections but he can't get his own majority party to construct a reasonable stimulus bill.

Read and ye shall find the answers to thy questions.

Q: What are some of the tax breaks in the bill?

A: It includes Obama's signature "Making Work Pay" tax credit for 95 percent of workers, though negotiators agreed to trim the credit to $400 a year instead of $500 — or $800 for married couples, cut from Obama's original proposal of $1,000. It would begin showing up in most workers' paychecks in June as an extra $13 a week in take-home pay, falling to about $8 a week next January.

There is also a $70 billion, one-year fix for the alternative minimum tax. The fix would save some 20 million mainly upper-middle-income taxpayers about $2,000 in taxes for 2009.

Infrastructure: The infrastructure section of the package includes funds for building and repairing highways and bridges, expanding transit systems, upgrading airports and rail systems and building and repairing federal buildings — with the focus on making them more energy efficient. Funds are available for clean water projects, cleanup of environmental waste areas and nuclear waste cleanups.

Money devoted solely to transportation infrastructure reaches almost $50 billion. Collins said that when all the infrastructure projects for roads, sewers, energy and electricity transmission are added up, it will reach about $150 billion.

(ALC: 150/789 = 0.1901 * 100% = 19.01% ;) )

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

That's for correcting me.

That $13 extra dollars a week is going to change my life and save the economy. When Bush had the $600 tax break, people laughed at puny it was.

That's quite different from the information what we're getting from the National Association of Development Organizations (NADO) on the Senate and House Bills which claim around $28-30 billion dollars. The difference is the 5-6% is for highways and the other departments are covered by different programs.

I'm not saying I'm agreeing with the tax break and its low amount. If you notice, Obama wanted a much higher tax cut. Right? It is something however.

The amounts I report here are cumulative for all infrastructure, as reported by today's morning news on TV. I guess if you only focus on a part of the sum, you get the percent you get.

Everyone loves a tax cut, but what they should really work on is eliminating the national debt. I would prefer that the budget shrink, allowing for a positive cash flow that works towards decreasing the deficit. I'm by no means an economist but I look at the national debt in much the same way as an outstanding credit card bill. If you have a huge credit card bill you are paying a crapload of interest along with the principal & the priority should be to eliminate the outstanding balance before you buy something else that you really don't need.

And more!

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.
