I must be weird. I would not like a ring in a restaurant. Private for me please! Knee good.

Why the knee? It seems so contrived? I mean if that's what feels right for him, he should do it, but not because 'that's what everyone else does'. As for the time and place, I think you should just 'feel' for that moment and not let it be too scripted. We're all so tainted by Hollywood's vision of how it's suppose to be, but when the right moment comes, it's not really dependent on what's going on externally. You're heart will tell you when the time is right.

If romance were so easy as to be scripted for you like a set of instructions, then romance wouldn't be romance, would it?

I remember reading about this guy who set himself on fire before being doused out to propose to his girlfriend (he wore a stuntman's firesuit). He later regretted it because she freaked out...hehehe. But you can't blame the guy for trying something unique.
