Post office messed up

We sent in our AOS package yesterday, and today we get a notice from USPS in the mailbox, saying they tried to deliver the package, but we aren't there to receive it.....the post office sent the package to us! I freaked out. I went directly to the post office mentioned in the notice to pick up the package, but it's not there It took me months to put the package together, and I thought mailing it in would be an easy process They told me to go back there tomorrow. The woman that took my package told me that it was her first day working in the post office....I really hope we will get the package back so we can mail it back in.

Did you send it registered?

Always best to send your papers registered, that way you can keep track of it.

I just hope that your package gets to its destination, I would be fuming as it takes so much time and effort to put together.

I know it's not anywhere as important as your papers, but the same thing just happened to me with some cards I was sending to my inlaws in UK.

I know the feeling MrsW, my mum sent us a xmas card from the UK and we got it 3 months later...it had gone via zambia lol

I hate sending things by post, always worried that the poststaff will take it etc.

Just to add.. I spoke to my mum few days ago and a local post office worker where she lives, was in trouble cos he had dumped over 50,000 letters in some woods or fields (can't remember what she told me) but turned out the guy was dyslexic (sp?) ..........crazzzzyyyyyy

Yep, we sent them in registered, which is how we found out that they tried to send the package to us, the sender address, instead of the recipient address. I still need to find that package before I can actually re-mail it to the chicago lockbox *sighs* already delayed lol and it's not even in yet.

Baaaaaaaadd post office, they can mess up my other packages/letters/cards, but they shouldn't mess up my AOS package

My husband's great grandfather sent a present to Indonesia, and the post office was charging me $535 for that. We ended up not picking it up

Got the package back, complained to the USPS, and they took the package back saying they will fix that and send it to the actual recipient *fingers crossed*

That is crazy, i am sorry this has happened to you.

I cant believe it takes 6 days to send a letter through registered post from new hampshire to chicago.Its crazy.I cant send stuff to ireland quicker. My aos/Ap package took that long to get delievered.
