i was doing the cabbage leaves but it wasnt doing anything. i remember the lactation lady telling me to leave it on my breasts for 10 min, but i dont remember how many times a day. they're way better today. oh, also she said pumping helps.

 that's weird, because pumping stimulates the letdown, but I guess if you ask 10 different lactation ladies, you'll get 10 different answers.

how can pumping stimulate the letdown? it's just like bf, if you keep doing it the milk will keep coming.

ok, I'm not sure if I understood you correctly. I thought there was an issue with engorgement. I had that and like you said, the more you pump, the more milk is produced. I had the problem that I had way too much milk but I was told to pump the first week because I had an infection and couldn't breastfeed Ben while on i.v. antibiotics (which was stupid because the pumping made the engorgement a lot worse and they fed it to him with a bottle anyways). Pumping overstimulated my boobs and just looking at the pump felt like someone was stabbing me with a knife about every 20 minutes when I had a letdown.

@Chrissy: are you having a c-section? When is the "appointment"? Hang in there!! Any names picked out yet?

Did any of you with the 1 y/o babies or older have children whose eyes were blue and changed? At what age did they change for you?

I am curious what color Hana and Zak's eyes will be. I think Zak's will eventually be brown. As for Hana, I am not too sure. I have blue eyes. DH has brown eyes. My mom has hazel eyes. So...I think brown is in their future. I am just curious.

this is what i know: blue eyes can turn brown, green, or hazel, but brown eyes likely won't lighten and become blue

@Chrissy: oh wow soon soon!!! How is Dylan doing does he understand that he will have a baby sister? I love the name Molly! She will be a cutie, I can already tell. :luv:

@tnh: brown is a dominant color, but you never know, even if mom and dad have brown eyes, but there is someone in the family with blue eyes, I think chances are 1 in 4 that baby will have blue eyes. I think evolutionists call this dominant-recessive inheritance. Both hubby and I have dark hair, but Ben is blonde. I have dark blue eyes and hubby's eyes are green and Ben's eyes are light blue.

If dark brown eyes are dominant in both parents it usually changes within weeks after birth. If it's all mixed up it might take up to 2 years to tell for sure.

zaid was born with blue eyes and they stayed blue. i think you can tell if they will change. if they are a multi color, or cloudy blue, etc, those are good signs. zaid always had crystal blue eyes

Some people recommended us to give her formula the last feeding and at 2am, does it work for you??? she sleeps excellent during the day the problem is at night.

Upss girls, I will continue later... somebody need mommy!!

Keeping her up during the day will just mean a fussy baby, they need their sleep. Is she fussing or just not sleeping? Have you tried feeding her in closer intervals closer to bedtime? I feed 2 feedings 2 hours apart for DS and he sleeps 3.5-4 hours then another 3.5-4 hours. I also turn all lights out and he sleeps in the bassinet next to the bed now. Also make sure she is burped good and nice clean diaper. It's amazing how a little gas can keep the up.

You can predict the eye color possibilities with a simple Mendel chart. This eye color predictor will do it automatically for you

Feeding babies formula in the middle of the night will not make them sleep longer, just like putting rice cereal into their bottles will not make them sleep longer. Breastmilk is the most calorie and fat dense food you can offer your baby and if she wakes up hungry at night, she will wake up hungry even if you give her formula. There are babies that sleep through the night on one feeding of breastmilk at 7pm..I have one of those. Sofia is still so little, she doesn't know days or nights yet. Like I said, it took Allie a while to get used to sleeping at night and I totally understand that it is draining. I was close to tears a couple of times, trying to figure out how to make it through the next day being so tired and moody. The only thing you can do is feeding her, not talking to her, not turning lights on at night, no stimulation whatsoever. Just boobie and back to bed. If you can swaddle her, then I'd do that too.
