need to translate wedding certificate from spanish to english can anyone help me

Hi, I am from ecuador and just got married 2 weeks ago, I have my marriage certificate or "Inscripcion de matrimonio" and also a birth certificate,, All of these documents from ecuador .. does anybody have a sample to translate this document, i dont need names or personal information i just need the translation PLEASE HELP

you need certified translation , you can use one of those translators listed in the embassy's website

I am in the US. I live in NJ .. so its gonna be a problem to go to one of those translators ... is there any other way

Hello. You can contact your local university and find a professor or associate professor or even a graduate assistant in the spanish department. Thats what I did, and the person was very quick and thorough and affordable. Make sure you get a signed letter from them on the schools letterhead stating that they are qualified to translate the documents and you will be OK.

You don't need to visit them in person. Translations can easily be done through email

i was planning on translated myself but and have it notarized by a friend but i am just afraid to do something wrong that's why i was wondering if somebody had a sample.

Notarization is not required. The marriage certificate itself is you "sample". Simply use the same format and translate it. Then add a statement certifying you are fluent in both languages. Frankly it would be better for another Spanish speaker to certify your work instead of certifying it yourself but you can do the work.

Notarize is a word with a specific meaning. Only a Notary can notarize. All you need is a person to sign the statement saying they are fluent in both languages and the document is translated correctly. Be aware, however that this is the USCIS standard. It may not be the standard for submitting later documents to a Consulate abroad. Most Consulates in Spanish speaking countries will accept documents in the local language.
