Timeline

I took an ICE very early in the morning to Frankfurt. When I got off the U-bahn at Giessenerstr., it was about 6: 40. Another man also got off here.

So I asked: “ Entschuldigung, wissen Sie wo…” (Excuse me, do you know where...)

(I was interrupted by him) “Wo die Botschaft ist?” (Where the consulate is?)

„Ja.“"yes."

„Keine Ahnung. Ich suche die auch.“ (no idea. i'm also looking for it.)

Good, in this dark morning, I have a partner, a cute guy:p He stopped a jogging man and got the directions. We arrived there about 6:50. Nobody was outside. A guy from the security check window told us to wait around the corner of the building and someone would be there at about 7:15.

The guy is a co-pilot of Lufthansa. So we had a nice talk about his job while we were waiting.

At about 7:20, someone came to the window. I was the first in the line and of course was the first to let go in for the security check at 7:25.

In the big, nice hall, I selected a seat in the first roll, right opposite to counter 17. (According to other people’s experience, bigger number counters do the K1 visa business)

At about 7:50, I was called to counter 23. There a girl collected my passport, a photo, the proof of the application fee payment and I was given an big, brown envelope to self-address it and put on a 3.50 euro stamp.

At about 8:15, I was called to counter 19. There a girl collected the financial support documents, checked all my forms with me and explained to my something about K1 visa, such as, it is valid for 6 months once it is issued, blah, blah, blah…

At about 9: 10, I was called to counter 17. There a man gave me the interview. He was quite friendly, and with a typical American “How are you doing?”, my interview began. His questions mainly focused on my study because my fiancé and I were first met through school activities since we were both international students there and we studied together for a whole year.

After several questions, he gave ma a piece of green paper and told me that the visa will be issued and if I have any further question, I can contact them according to the information of that paper. He wished me good luck in the end. I didn’t notice that this was the end of the interview!

At 9:25, I was out of the consulate building! I kept thinking,”Is that all for the interview? Am I issued the visa finally?”

People in Frankfurt consulate were very friendly. And the interview was really comfortable.

The visa should be issued and mailed to me within two weeks!!!

I wish all of you a very pleasant visa application journey!!!
