I keep reading this "Proof of having met in past two years" requirement and keep wondering - do they actually mean that we're supposed to know each other at least two years or is it just a maximum period they need a proof for?

Did you notice the word "WITHIN"

I finally got rid of the never ending money drain. I called the plumber, and got the problem fixed. I wish her the best.

If you have not SEEN your fiance in person within the 2 years before the date you filed your I-129F, you will have to make arrangements to fix that. You do not have to have known them for 2 years, just prove that you've SEEN them WITHIN that period.

We met in October 2007 and our immigration journey started in July 2008 when we filed for the I-129F Fiance Visa petition.

YOU MUST MEET YOUR FIANCE WITHIN TWO YEARS BEFORE APPLYING I-129F. Me and my fiance know each other for nine months before we made the application. If you honestly in love don't worry about it. The rules are just to stop people trying to come here illegally.

It just means face-to-face one time during the last two years.

I found your question in the Ukraine portal so you will be going through Kiev. Good for you. Kiev is quite particular that you have everything required...but nothing more. You only need have been with your fiancee, in person, one time in the last two years. I could have been yesterday and you could file the petition today. There is no requirement that the relationship be longer than the time needed to shake hands and say hello and Kiev will not ask questions in this regard.

Im starting to wonder if ppl are skipping this word too. the wording in the requirement is as simple as it can be, what is it ppl are not getting?

It's one of two things, not reading carefully or not interpreting literally.

I think the OP has had their questioned answered.

The whole process can be very confusing, especially to newbie's....so lets be patient guys and gals. I know sometimes I can read something 4 or 5 times and skip a word.

And I can be too literal sometimes :)

Advising people to read carefully and interpret literally is not a sign of "impatience". It's critical advice for success in the visa process.

especially when the same question gets asked daily.

Its not an insult to adv reading the guides, nor reading the guides carefully. The requirment of meeting within 2 years is stated about as simple as it can get

That was not what I was referring to. But you do get this sense of this attitude of "what's so bloooming hard!!!!!"

That is a rude response. And if everyone was able to do this with little help, and interpret literally and correctly every single time...then this forum would consist mostly of "I miss my fianceee / spouse...." , divorce and "how do I get my greencard after I leave" threads.

And you must bare in mind that not all people have the same abilities to interpret the information correctly. Regardless of how easy it seems to you and I.
