USians = people from the U.S.

"Americans" is a misnomer.

So there.

Ha!

Amerigo Vespucci discovered the east coast of America; hence, American. Also, the official name for Mexico is United Mexican States so I guess Mexicans as USians, too, by your definition.

In any case, a nationality can call themselves whatever they please and doing otherwise is insulting.

Upon my first visit to Greece, a cousin called me "Amerikana". I corrected her and said I was not Amrican, I was Canadian.

She corrected me back, saying I was from North America.

And so...

Calling oneself American does not mean you are from the United States....speaking globally.

Not just my opinion.

Can you imagine a world without the United States in it?

But why would you want to? You're in America, you know. If America went *poof* you'd go *poof* with it.

I didn't say I wanted it to happen. I just answered the question, noob. :bonk:

So what can we do besides a major revolt, we are a republic and elect officials once every 2,4, or 6 years, hope they are honest and looking after our interests,

That major revolt is looking more and more attractive each day.

Problem is NickD, half of us would revolt for way less Gov't and the other half would demand even more.

I am bettin that picture don't have a successful outcome.

Same thing.

Agreed. We need to be more aggressive and power hungry to survive in the 21st century, not less.

Yes, American wealth and power have more worthy competitors today than at any time in recent history. This is no time to go kumbaya.

Lot of confused people globally. You could start by telling people North America is a continent, not a country; thus, people using the term "North American" as a nationality are incorrect but it's ok if they can't understand where you're from. If they don't know where Canada is, you can say North America to help them out.

I've never met a single person who wasn't from the U.S. describe themselves as Americans. They could be Canadian, Mexican or Brazilian. . ., but not American. The same is true for people who call themselves South or Central African even they don't come from those nations. They be Namibians or Chadians (?) but they aren't South Africans or Central Africans. There's a difference between regions and countries and how those terms should be used.

When I was in Cancun with some friends many years ago, a taxi driver referred to a church outside Cancun as the first church with something-and-something (I wasn't paying attention) in America. One of my friends jumped at that.. what do you mean? This was part of America once? The taxi driver goes, this is America. America isn't just the US it's the whole region.

Oh and btw, there are people on this site who aren't from the U.S. but do call themselves Americans. I've been flamed by one, I remember.

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).
