There are a few reports on a computer forum of people running it with 512MB of RAM. Everything I have read indicates that it will be much easier on system resources than Vista.

I'm sure it can "run" on 512MB, but let's be honest -- simply "running" and performing at an acceptable level are generally two very different things.

The point is, it isn't a resource hog like Vista. Vista didn't work well with a gig, and most are running 2-3 gigs on the 32 bit version.

Just cannot get excited about a new OS, no matter how hard I try, just know that I will be in for a couple of years of problems plus will have to lay out even more bucks for a none backward software compatible OS. What's so hot about Office 2007? Tabs instead of pull down windows, have to be retrained to use it.

Still use a 1 GHz Win98SE box, runs like lightning, but won't run anything higher than Adobe Arcobat ver. 5, needed XP and a new box to run that. Not that even ver. 9 is any better than ver. 3.0, it's just that they change the .pdf format every year, so either you upgrade or are dead in the water.

Only good thing I have to say about Vista, can still run it in classic mode, so it looks just like Win95. If I want to watch girls dance across the screen, can plug in a porn DVD. Only reason you need more memory is to run more #######, and Vista is loaded with #######.

The one good point about Win98SE is it's much easier to run MS-DOS games. If you're not considering that (or choose to use DOSBox), then the benefit of such an old operating system falls flat.

I got Windows 7 to run on 512 MB of RAM. No problem. I changed the memory allocation in VirtualBox to 512. Ran Windows 7 without any problems. Amazing!

I even ran with an 8 MB video memory. Which is ridiculous! :D

I think I'm going to install it tonight. It is sounding quite promising.

I have installed Windows 7 and this is my first post using it and the new Internet Explorer 8 browser. The installation went off without a hitch. My video card is too old to take advantage of some of the features. Win 7 looks more like Vista than XP. I haven't played with it much at all. I will give it some use in the next few days after I install a few programs. It is a pain to have to reinstall everything again. Oh well.

Yep i downloaded Windows 7, much better than the other OS, well it has some bugs, normal for beta version, i had problem with start up, the items didnt show when windows started and it crashed, but after i read some forums i fixed it and now its working very well, i like the simple design, very clean, and ohh i'm really happy with the updates, they dont show at all, i mean when you install windows xp you had all these crucial updates that were downloading with days and in this one there's no such thing, drivers are also found automatically, i'm impressed with this version, very easy to install too, just few steps and while having coffee you're with new windows :)

I love this new windows, I had a go at installing all my usual programs like firefox and Skype and winamp. I was even able to copy over my program settings from my winXP drive (I am dual booting) they all installed with no issues, as for hardware only thing I had an issue with was my webcam, its a bit old so it is not supported in vista or win 7 but a quick search on the internet and I found a work around for it.

I set up my home network, it was so easy I kept thinking it will not work as there was none of the file sharing ####### that you have with XP and to my suprize it worked first time with no issues. So over all I am liking what I have seem so far.
