If you've hired Mr. Ellis, you've got one of the best.

Why are you talking about him coming to America anyway if he's got leadership responsibilities at home?

We plan to live in both countries. I easily get multientry visas to go there. it is a shame how our government behaves. His staff can maintain the day to day things while he is out of the country. I have chldern and grand kids here so we want to go back and forth at will.

Thanks for the suggestions. It is so stabbed in the back annoying when things like this happen. I have been working on gowernment "stuff" for 30 years and to have them say I filed for a relationship that wasn't bona fide really got me mad. We plan on marrying there in about 18 months if we don't get things straightnted out and in about 30 months he takes his fathers throne and I will be lolo ( queen ) I have actually been asked to do some speaking to groups this and to considering writing a book . That will at least give me one avenue to vent about how corrupt the Nigerian mission is.

Scams and corruption are pretty much the normal in that part of the world.

Yes but I was naive and thought that our consulate would not be more corrupt than the country in general.

I would wait until he is King and then he can qualify you for diplomatic status and then you and the King can come and go as y'all please. In fact as King and Queen I believe that would enable you to call on the embassy at will and state your concerns in person. Also as King and Queen isn't there a hotline or something?

I know that I will have that diplomatic status there. Get to go visit the president if we want from what I have been told. But he doesn't take the throne for over 2 years. That is more than I want to wait. I am not sure if tribal rulers have any privilages with the embassy. I will find out as things progress. This is all new to me. I grew up a farm girl.

Did all this come about from a email you got stating that there was a fortune awaiting if you could only help get it out of the country and that you would receive a portion for doing so?

No this did not. This is a title that has been in his family for generations. He happens to be the oldest son and it passes to him. However it doesn't come with millions in some mystery bank account or even a glass slipper. He is a humble honest man that is far from rich. Other than a lot of obligations to his village, a lot of traditional ceremonial duties and a small stipend from the government there is nothing. No castle nothing like that. But there are some wonderful things in Nigeria. Beautiful traditions and people. Unfortunately the corruption has given the country such a bad rap.

Sylvia, if you are in AP/AR you are not denied. This is commin your SO's country. It is just part of the process. You should not worry right now, because they are jsut verifying your SO is who he says he is and that he is not married to someone else.

My husband wanted to know hat tribe is your SO from? And what dialet of that tribe? He said that if he accept the throne he is not allowed to live anyplace other then where his tribe is. If the embassy caught wind of this, they might use this against ou in your case.

He is allowed to live here. He is Igbo from the Enugu area. Your husband is right that it used to be that way but the villiage is small and there is no work there . His father lived for years in Onishia. We are expected to maintain a compound there and he will have to be there a few months a year. But at our age living together 24/7/365 isn't our goal. We just want to spend most of our time together. We do plan on retiring there. I took some house plans there on my trip so that he could look and we can start planning. Unfortunately my shoulder kept me from travelling so we didn't actually go try to figure which would work best. Hopefully he will do that while he is in the village.

As for the petition . It is back at CSC. The interviewer refused to issue the visa because she wanted details of what I do at work. He doesn't know ( which was good I would have been in a lot of trouble if he did ) and I filed a report with security/DOD about the incident.

I am sorry for the confusion. I thought you were put in AP/AR. I have to say that you have a case (not legal), but for your petition to be reinstated. My husband did not know exactly what I did at work. I told him once and my job is not worth discussing again. He gets the compnay mission and goal confused with my actual possiton.

I believe he stated he said he didn't know. He was going in AP anyways. One question does not determine the outcome. Was there anythign else or is your lawyer working towards that.

The lawyer is doing the rebuttal and will file a new petitoin if that is where we end up. The frustration get the best of me so I like to personally explore the what ifs. There is just so much to deal with just because our SO's come from a country that the US doesn't welcome. The unfairness of it all is amazing.

Why didn't you give him a general job description that isn't classified? I retired from the Air Force and work as a contractor at an Army base. This is what I did with my SO.

As far as our country not welcoming Nigeria I think you are completely wrong and a little biased due to your situation. The fact of the matter is Nigeria is a very beautiful place and has many friendly and beautiful people there but unfortunately a small faction of the country decided to make a living off of scamming foreigners so the only exposure to Nigeria most of the rest of the world has are these scams. With the internet being so prevalent in the last 10 - 15 years it has made the situation much worse beings that many people that are not travelers nor geographic savvy so they know Nigeria ONLY for its scams from the internet. With that said, most Nigerians do not participate in these activities and many actually blame the people being scammed for not being smart enough to know they're being scammed! My SO is one of them. To some extent I agree, people around the world need to wise up, but until Nigerians also change their opinion and work to stop the scammers, the scammers will go on. One can actually make a good living off running internet scams there and in turn it boosts the local economy so why would a corrupt government bother to work hard at stopping money from flowing into the country??? Until the scammers go away Nigeria will be forever known as a fraudulent place and in being so the US immigration service will scrutinize people from Nigeria more so than those from other countries. It's very unfortunate but that is the way it is and probably won't change in our lifetime. Your best bet is to have your SO try to answer the interviewers questions the best he can. He can only answer what he knows. Give him a generic description of your job. Every classified job has one.

I hope things work out for you and your SO. Good luck and God bless!

Yes are you implying they have an unlimited amout of money to pay damages. They have made false a conflicting statements since the interview. I think they count on you being afraid of fighting the government.

OK, whatever. Remember your foreign fiance(e) has no right to a visa or entry into the USA. I have not heard of many successful lawsuits. But I am sure your attorney will gladly take your money to fight it and lose. I bet he doesn't so it on contingency does he?

It is difficult to sue the government even in areas that are entitled to "due process". Until they admit your fiance(e) to the USA there IS no due process. They can simply say they are not satisfied the relationship meets the needs of the statute and you lose.

Nor does the embassy have the right to re adjudacte petitions. But they get away with blantently illegal acts all the time because everyone is afraid of them. I have conficted documetns as to their reason for disapproving the application which can be construed into the fact they didn't have a real reason and therefore violated their charter. They under the banner of DOS are accountable to a USC for their actions. Yes the foreign national has no rights but I do.

Sylvia, according to a lawyer I previously worked with, you have a right as a USC to have your husband with you. Not a fiance. He's not yet considered your family. I knew someone that filed a Writ of Mandamus. They were deported after they did that. I'm not sure you want to stir the hornet's nest...you might end up having to spend the rest of your life as the "Queen" in Nigeria.
