I agree... Planning the wedding seven months from filing is really asking for having to reschedule. We did plan the wedding as well, but we allowed nine months, even though the VJ statistics I was looking at back then showed an average time of five months to get the visa for Germans. I didn't know back then how much the service center processing times fluctuate, and how unreliable the statistics therefore are, but I still wanted to play safe and leave more time. So we planned for October... and there was a time in June when I thought we might have to reschedule. Even though I disagree with most VJers who think you absolutely can't plan anything, since I think everyone can calculate their risks and decide to take them or not, and certain consulates are less likely to give you trouble than others, I would never have dared to gamble on the best case scenario. And retrospectively, I wish I had at least forbidden my family to book their flights from Germany early on... That really added to my stress when waiting for NOA2.

I didn't know that either when I started this journey. Someone I know had an attorney who stated that from mailing off the petition until arrival in the States would be about 3 months. I didn't believe that even NOT knowing the details. I just hoped that my SO would be here by 4th of July since I filed in December.... We didn't even get NOA2 until after that date though...

...I had my K1 Interview in London on the 16th of July and was approved! My passport with visa arrived back with me on the 21st  Flights in August, wedding in October....it's all GO!!!!

Congratulations!

To those still waiting, I hope you get your NOA2s soon. Trust me; I KNOW the ups & downs you are probably going through; not fun. Best wishes.

Thank you all! :D I actually booked my flight once the interview date was set, because I didn't feel I had to expect any further delays at that point. I'm flying in on August 18. In two weeks! I hope I get everything done until then, moving out of my place and packing etc.... I'm so excited.

AIM_1980, I'm sorry you are still waiting... So you got an RFE before NOA1? I've never heard of that happening.

Yeah it took 7 months!! That was a hard wait. Hopefully the rest will be faster.

According to your timeline, it took over 8 months! I'm sorry you had to wait that long, that sucks. Glad you got approved now.

firdaus, what do you mean, interview in May?? You should get an interview in September (if not August), if you send them packet 3 now. Good luck!

Sorry, I miscalculated... hehe, math... And I wondered why you understated your wait... It was still too long, of course! Hope things go more quickly for you now.

hmm id wondered if a Jan 09 even existed.. and here i found it!

i had delayed getting my package checklist in, so i'm a bit behind the rejoicing yet.. i can understand the appeal of these topics though, it's like you can chat with the cohort that has a similar timeline to you.

even though I know that I can't count on getting approved and getting the visa a week after interview, i am going to rejoice when i get the interview date in the mail. i'm already checking the mail so much even though i know it's too early to do so.

AIM_1980 keep the faith, i hope things keep moving along. i am waiting for the interview, and while i hope it's all smooth sailing, the waiting is agonizing.

there is so much anticipation, so much.. impatience? hehe. this has been a 3 year journey from when we met, and i so want to be there in the US already, living in the apartment he got for the both of us.
