Radar is a system that uses electromagnetic waves to identify the range, altitude, direction, or speed of both moving and fixed objects such as aircraft, ships, motor vehicles, weather formations, and terrain. The term RADAR was coined in 1941 as an acronym for radio detection and ranging.

YMMV

Yep, they are used in many cases for automatic door openers.

Two separate questions.

1. No, there are no lie detectors used in AOS interviews.

2. No it is not ok for her to work without EAD. (Employment Authorization Document)

Radar is a machine the police on the highway can point at you to see if you are speeding.

The person in the other post that said the Chinese restaurant may be on ICEs radar means:

If the restaurant is hiring a K1 without work authorization, then they probably have other illegals working there too. So they could be being "watched secretly" by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) investigators, who may go in and round up the illegals in a suprise raid. It happens.

It is a very, very unwise decision to work before the EAD card is received.

If one is so desperate to work Without EAD then there would be more chances to get caught, and if she gets caught then everything will be over, you are abiding the law, and stop working asap, doesn't it sound good if you or your friend wait unless you get the EAD. Raids can be happen anywhere and authoroties dont inform you before they actually there for the raid......so dont' mess up with your whole case and wait untill you get the proper document so that you could commence to work.

and yes there is a existance of lie detector in the world and they are also being used for criminals, its not that much reliable but still can give you an idea if the person is actually lieing or what? I am not sure if it is used for AOS interview but i can't even understand onething? why you or your friend is feared from lie.........it means you are lieing for something or hiding something that can be caught during the interview.........a person who has applied with true documents and didn't tell lie frm start till end of his case can't be bother by radar thingy? sorry for such straight answer but we are here to help to be straight wit the law but not to encourage anyone to do anything against the law or abiding the law....

Perhaps you saw someone who posted that there could be a raid on the place that employees people illegally. Not radar, but raid. It is just not safe for an immigrant to work without the employment authorization (EAD) or green card. It is also not safe for anyone, including citizens, to work for money under the table, without taxes being taken out and Social Security being taken out. Doing that gets the employer in trouble, too. The penalties are quite severe, especially for the immigrant who is hoping to be permitted to stay here as a legal permanent resident.

In the AOS interview, there is no lie detector used and the only "radar" is the X-ray everyone goes through as they enter the building.

The post said "on ICE's radar." They didn't mean real radar or machine of any type. It was just a figure of speech to mean ICE might already be suspicious of this business and watching and investigating them secretly. Then when ICE felt it had enough evidence, they would go in an raid the place.

ICEs radar = ICEs list of suspicious businesses = ICEs list of businesses somebody has reported to have illegals working = ICEs list of places they've never checked before but plan to when they get time
