While I regret he was turned away ... and if I had a business like this, a seeing-eye dog would be most welcome, I also think the person who puts up the money and takes all the business risk should decide these issues.

Once, outside of Wilmington NC, I was told I couldn't come in a bar/eatery because I was in the Marines. (This was back when the haircut gave you away).

Sure I was pissed, but later I considered all the damage the owner had paid for from fights over the years and so it was "his right" who he let in his place.

I'm sure revenue from blind clientele will not make or break the business.

Well, it depends how you look at it. I'm sure that this unfavorable news story will not benefit the restaurant one bit. Just as someone posting a rave review of restaurant will encourage business, this kind of story does the opposite.

If more people think the restaurant was in the wrong, then his profits will clearly show that.

Disabled people need protection under the law.

We all need protection under the law. But granting someone the ability to usurp one's right to refuse service in their own restaurant is hardly what I would define as protection.

and ummmm..... since when are muslims automatically 'brown'? ZOMG ####### YFKM

Not exactly common that the owner of an Indian restaurant would be of non-Subcontinental origin.
Actually its pretty common. "Indian" in the UK is a catchall for Pakistani, Bangladeshi and Indian - at least where restaurants are concerned.
:bonk: :bonk: :bonk: Last I checked, all three countries are in the Subcontinent!

People have a God-given right to access to Indian food at all times!

Seriously though, I don't see the difference between this and the government mandating handicapped access, which I guess you would disagree with as well.

I don't think the clientele vote with their feet in a way that would make much difference.

In fact I don't think it will have any effect at all.

People are inherently selfish in this respect and unless they're on the receiving end of the discrimination they won't really care.

It's the Daily Mail for gawd's sake. This paper thrives on stirring the pot.

Nothing this paper prints is worth reading.

Yes. There's an epidemic of AIDS infected guide dogs out there. Think 'I am Legend'.
