Hi everyone!

Sorry in advance this is just a simple question but Im just curious about it. I just got approved yesterday and I would like to know how many pieces of paper did they gave you? The IO gave me 2 pieces of paper , one says "NOTICE TO CONDITIONAL PERMANENT RESIDENT ALIEN" where in she wrote my A#, Name, DOB, POB and Class thens he let me signed it. Then the other paper says "WELCOME TO THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA", is this the welcome letter already? And will I supposed to get another one in the mail right?

And 1 more thing, up to this time, my case online was not change, my I-485 still says received and pending, everyone experience this before? Thanks so much for the reply with regards to this.Aside from the fact that im OCD .lol  Im also freaking out the fact that we will move in 9 days and thinking that my GC will got lost in the mail, although I have it change already thru online and phone and will also send a change of address with USPS.

Again thanks for anybody's "input to be "about this.:star:

If my memory is correct, all I got was the stamp in the Passeport... I think I received the rest in the mail...

It can take a few days for the online status to be updated, but as long as you were told you are approved I wouldn;t worry about it.

How soon are you moving? My GC took 2 weeks to arrive in the mail, it can be more or less.

If you get too close to the moving date without receiving anything, then I would schedule an infopass appointment to make sure your address is changed to the new when and that you receive your green-card where you should.

We'll be moving on the 20th, so 9 days from now. Do I still need to make an infopass for it? Because we just paid the new apartment after the interview so we can't tell the IO the exact address yet, so what I did is called the USCIS for address change yesterday and he gave me a confimation number for the address change and also i applied an address change online and had another confimation number from there. Later i will give the mailman a change of address form for USPS. I hope this is fine. Because the IO told us yesterday that we must do everything to change the address because the GC might get loss. i hope not

I've heard some horror stories before about GC lost in the mail... Not to scare you but it does happen that they loose it.

You've done what you could.

However if there is any way that you can have someone check the mail for you (at your old address) once you move.

The one thing with the Green Card is that they don't forward it to a new address (if your old one is listed on it).

The IO who interviewed you also probably told you that if you don't receive your GC within X days from the approval time then you should contact them. If it happens (I hope not) make an infopass appointment and bring with you all documents that prove you did the address change at USCIS.

That's about all I can think of. If you don't receive anything in the coming weeks, you might also want to do a search on old posts for similar situations and see what people did.

Moving before you have your GC can always be problematic, sadly USCIS doesn't always relay the change of address like they should. At least you are approved so they can't say you abandonned your case ;)

THANK YOU SO MUCH  Yes im really worried about this probability of my GC being lost. The IO told us though they should forward it to the new address and i also ask the mailman i saidits a government letter and he gave me the forwrding address and i asked him many times will you (postoffice) really forward it and he said yes they will. But still my worries will subside once i have my GC in hand. Again thank you for your replies. God bless :star:

We were approved yesterday as well. We didn't receive any papers, just the I-551 stamp in my husband's passport.

Good luck!

Hi Richo,

I got approved today and I only got 1 paper "Notice to Conditional Permanent Residents" and have me and my husband signed. And the lady also gave me back 1 copy of my certified copy of marriage certificate, coz she said they only need one to keep.

I also didn't get the passport stamped, since she said they no longer stamp it because the Green Card will arrive in the mail shortly, so it is not necessary.

Well, for your new address, sounds like you have done what you can do already, did you also fill out the change of address form from the post office? GOOD LUCK with you, keep finger cross then!!!
