I have been reading many posts on here and I'm a little concerned now. I have read so many people have been to see eachother many times  . He is from Nepal and I'm in Washington State.

I have only been to see my fiance once since we met (4/07) I'm a single mom and he's a single father. We went to Germany back in July of this year for 10 days. We did get an afidavit while in Germany proving we were there plus we have lots of pix of us and his family (his sister lives there).

We talk daily on email we talk on web camera every weekend all day long and on the phone sometimes.

The US has had our paperwork since 10/3/08. So far we have heard nothing and I can't find any information on anyone dealing with Nepal on here.

DO we both go to an interview ? Me here in the US and him in Nepal ? We do have a lawyer and they are telling us the time line is about 5 months from start to finish. I'm afraid to send any more questions as it may cost us extra money.. I have already sent to many to him lol ...

From NOA1 to NOA2 is 4-6months, then it depends on how quickly the US Embassy in Nepal arranges the Pkt 3&4 and interview.

The interview is for the beneficiary of the K1 visa, so will be for him in Nepal.

You do not necessarily need to have made many visits to each other, so long as you have proof of meeting within the last 2years and later down the process can prove an on-going relationship.

Good luck on your visa journey.

Your lawyer should get your approved petition sometime in January. That suggests he will be interviewed in April. Since you have only met each other once in two years, there could be a question about the validity of your relationship. Even though you will not be the one to be interviewed, it would probably help remove a doubt if you are present for the interview.

Since you have a lawyer, USCIS will communicate with the attorney directly. The office should have what we call NOA1, a notice of having received your petition.

Nine to twelve months from the initial filing until interview is more realistic though you could get lucky and have it be as fast as seven months. Please fill in your timeline and see the magic that happens afterwards. Click on the word Nepal in your post to see a list of other people dealing with Nepal.

Hi neighbour, from Spokane myself :)

As long as you have met once, you are within requirements. Multiple trips are a bonus, they give you more proof of a bona fide, but they are not required. Some of us just don't have the extra cash lying around to visit more than the one time. Not that we don't want to!

Hang in there!

Hey guys!

I’m new to visajourney.com (actually signed up today)! I’m replying to this post because I need some help/advise. I have just completed and sent all the paperwork for my fiancé’s K-1 Visa. In less than one month I will be traveling to see her in Moldova (her country). I’m worried that I might have to return to Moldova after visiting her to sign papers. Due to work/traveling expense, I can only afford to go once a year. Does anyone know if Moldova requires American citizens to travel to their country regarding the K-1 visa? If so, I need to hold off on purchasing my tickets to adjust properly. I need to get my tickets soon and I don’t know what to do!!! Any advice or input would be greatly appreciated! :o)

The Moldovan government has nothing whatsoever to do with how the USA issues visas. What papers are you thinking you would need to sign?

Thanks for responding pushbrk! I was worried I might have to present pay stubs/tax information. So, I shouldn’t have to worry about this?

If you are petitioning for a fiance(e) visa these will need to be provided alongside the I-134, Affidavit of Support, at the interview. However you can send these to her. If you read the guides on the visa process and also visit the Embassy website it will have all the information you both need. Also, please fill in your timeline so people can tailor their responses to your questions. Not all family visas are the same.

You've gotten good information here. I did want to say, that if you click on your flag, you should be able to see who else has entered that country as their beneficiary's. I do believe there is one regular poster here that is petitioning their fiance from there. Her name is Patti Rani. Best of luck!

Right, your fiancee's visa will be dealt with by the US Embassy in Moldova, so the US Dept. of State, not the Moldovan government. If Moldova has requirements for their citizens exiting those will impact your fiancee, not you.

Once the USC submits the paperwork, as long as everything was complete and included, there is usually nothing else for them to sign. You can just send paperwork that your fiance needs via the mail.

Namaste Malishka,

Hopefully you've found others going through Nepal with the hints above.

I wouldn't worry too much about only having met once, but be sure your fiance has plenty of evidence of your relationship to take to his interview in Kathmandu, when the time comes. Photos, emails, hand-written letters, phone bills, etc... are all good evidence of an ongoing relationship. And in Kathmandu, the interview usually comes pretty quickly... he should be ready for it to take place soon after he turns in his Packet 3 (which the Consulate will send to him after they receive your approved petition from USCIS). You do not have to be at his interview, but I believe you are allowed to be if you can make it work.

Have you been to Nepal? I have found it extremely valuable in our marriage (and in raising my Nepali stepson) to have visited Nepal and be a little familiar with the language, culture, typical daily life that my husband and son were coming from. You may want to consider a visit for that reason alone, and if the interview works into it, so much the better.

Please do fill in your timeline so we can build a better picture of the process for hamro Nepali sattiharu. :star: You may also find reading the consulate reviews for Nepal interesting (see Reviews: Embassy/USCIS . POE at the top right of the screen).

Best wishes for a speedy, smooth visajourney! Feel free to PM...

Maya
