Could you guys help me with the major POE's in America? I have heard that Atlanta is the worst... what are the other POE's? Or, is ANY international airport considered a POE?

If you could... please help me to list them all here in this thread... thanks guys!

Atlanta was fine! I have gone through, Miami, Atlanta, and Dallas. Miami is really crowded and hot usually. Atlanta and Dallas have the customs and immigration check points pretty close to where the planes actually arrive. Miami you have to haul it for a bit--with all your carry-ons. Miami and Dallas when you clear immigration and customs you are at the curb, so if those cities are your final destination you are set. If Miami or Dallas are not your final destination then you have navigate to the correct terminal and tote your baggage with you and reenter in the big security lines competing with all the other passengers. With Atlanta when you clear customs and immigration you will be at the farest end of the airport from the curb. You will have to recheck all your bags even if you are at your final destination. The good thing is if this is just a stop-over for a transfer to another city--at least you can get rid of your bags immediately after immigration and customs--and you have usually a very quick check at security before you reenter the terminal, where you are competing only with those passengers from international flights--at times just those from your plane.

In accordance with Georgia law, "The Georgia Security and Immigration Compliance Act," I am required to display the following in any and all languages that I may give immigration related advise:

In addition to what folks said above, some foreign cities are designated as POEs because they process your immigration stuff in the foreign airport instead of when landing in the US. The ones I know of are Dublin and two in Canada (Vancouver and Toronto, maybe?).

Any Canadian airport that flies to the US has pre-clearance except I think Halifax.

divorced - April 2010 moved back to Ontario May 2010 and surrendered green card

PLEASE DO NOT PRIVATE MESSAGE ME OR EMAIL ME. I HAVE NO IDEA ABOUT CURRENT US IMMIGRATION PROCEDURES!!!!!

Excellent use of the word 'doddle'

Thank you! Please be sure to follow my act as I will posting the word doddle (seemingly) randomly throughout the various forums. :D

Anybody ever used Sandford instead of Orlando, we will be moving to Jacksonville but do not want to fly into there as it will involve two flights from the UK and that willl not be fair on my rottweillers. Sandford we can go direct from Manchester, have used it many times as visitor but not for the "final journey"

Anybody used San Francisco as POE?

I went through SFO years ago--so I don't know that my experience would be valid today in the post 911, there was a line I remember and beagles sniffing for agricultural products. On domestic trips through SFO in 2003 I had a pleasant time. So I guess I don't have anything negative that I remember about SFO.
