Wow - this is some thread huh! Who'd have thought peace would be something desirable? America is one of the strongest countries in the world in terms of weapons stock (it's current president being the owner of an enormous arms company - how ironic is that?) and armed forces capability. Could it be that finally, we're making steps in using that enormous might to actually create peace instead of avenging Daddy's failure in Iraq?

It's not a question of peace since there's no war with Cuba. Bush owns an arms company? Exactly how will America's military might be used for "peace" in Cuba?

I don't know...in a country so ethnically diverse, it's always nice to see a member of an immigration forum sporting a very mature, tasteful, racist avatar. Oh dear. So much for progress and brain cells.

There's little maturity or taste here but what's racist about making fun of Obama? He's not above criticism and there's no reference to him having sex with animals (different thread) so which is more offensive?

Yes, Bush has an enormous hand in supplying weapons to America's miltary. Take a peek at Farenheit 9/11 - it's all based on documented fact. Very ironically (almost makes you laguh really), members of the Bin Laden family sat on the board until shortly after 9/11. I think Osamas brother was one of the board members of the company, actually. And America ought to use it's troops for peacekeeping purposes. I'll say no more about that.

And as far as I'm concerned, taking anybody and turning their image deliberately into that of a terrorist for absolutely no reason at all, just because his name sounds a little similar, is not just absurd, it's offensive and most certainly bigoted. It offended me, on a site where many people come from Middle Eastern countries to look for advice and have to put up with this kind of cr@p all the time in their daily lives. It's just plain dumb. It really does make me shake my head. I really sigh sometimes, living in a world where some people seem to love prolonging and drawing out negativity and hate.

Unfortunately, Michael Moore's name is all over that and is enough to make some folks cringe in pain to have to watch him talk. They'll call you a liar and a weirdo for watching.

Well it's a good thing I really don't care what people call me. There are bigger priorities in life for me now, like living peacefully.

I think he's actually doing the right thing talking to other countries, Cuba, Iran and others instead of just going in there tearing them the bits then leaving us the tax payers with the massive bills and lots of pissed off people roaming the streets as is the case with Iraq. Then again didn't Bush Sr and Bush Jr have had some of the same crooks shacked up in office during their terms and they didn't mind talking to, helping and supporting "despot" dictators? Their most famous being the now decapitated Saddam.

I'd say more can be accomplished by talking, listening to and understating your "enemies" than just trying the caveman route of bash it in the head till it does what you want. Cuba isn't going to change if America sits back as says go ** yourself is it? It's done that for how long and it's not working.

It's Fahrenheit 911. A lot of people were conned by Moore and overlooked all the distortions (almost 60 by one count) in the movie. Funny how many people wanted to jail every Bin Laden in the phone book but don't know the family disowned him before 9/11. Again, Bush doesn't own a huge arms company or whatever your claiming. Learning about Bush through a Moore movie is like trying to learn about Hitler through Riefenstahl.

Speak for yourself. I don't think equating Bush to Hitler is justifiable - I've said so on many occasions.

The point of course was made in a thread the other day - that a few people seem to honestly think that because someone else says racist or bigoted things that it justifies their following suit.
