Hey - why bother to evacuate the people at all? Let 'em get shot and blown up - Not only will we solve problems of overpopulation or underemployment - but it will create jobs for life in the medical sector.

Now wait a minute, I can see destroying a few citites here and there, but no need for loss of anyones life. The medical sector jobs will increase due to the increase in construction activity, hence more accidents, cuts and bruises. The automakers can make tanks and planes again like they did in WWII, etc. It is a perfect plan that will start the road to economic recovery, reunite familes that have been separated by years of war and we'll have all the troops here to seal the borders and thwart any terrorist attacks. It's a win win situation.

Sure there is - it will free up more money to spend on everyone else.

My neighbor lady in the NG is scheduled to go to Iraq in the middle of January next year about six weeks from new for 18 months leaving her husband and seven year old daughter behind along with thousands of others from the Wisconsin National guard. While we had major floods in the southern portion of our state last spring, very few NG's around to help out the flood victims.

Our college tuition increased by $6,000 per year for our daughter, state claims lack of federal funds which is suppose to be our share of federal income tax we are suppose to receive. State claims increased taxes next year because of lack of fund with a 5.6 billion dollar deficit. While unemployment is skyrocketing.

I've got little extra sympathy for the NG after they've known for the last 7 years that they will probably face deployment overseas- that's part of the job. Alternatively, they can not join and whine about the high cost of tuition like everyone else.

The Wisconsin NG are better off than most states.

"Lt. Col. Tim Donovan, Wisconsin National Guard spokesman, said that while some resources are overseas, his state's guard has enough resources on hand to respond to stateside emergencies. His state has nearly 75% of its equipment on hand and available, some 57,000 items. "Ranging from French horns to howitzers and everything in between," Donovan said."

Unemployment is skyrocketing in Wisconsin? 5.1% isn't that high compared to the rest of the country. It's 7% in Georgia where I live and 9.3% in Michigan and Rhode Island. http://money.cnn.com/pf/features/lists/state_unemployment/

Should add that my neighbor is not complaining, truly dedicated to her duty and commitment, I use to be that way, why did I change? Regarding unemployment, percentages do not mean #######, if you are unemployed, but I am in the position where I would have to layoff myself, not about to do that. Maybe tomorrow.

Why not? We bomb and destroy property all over the world and then spend a fortune to help rebuild the country we desroyed, why not just do it here? It would create millions of jobs and the economy would be back to normal in no time. And all the money would stay right here at home. No need for any loss of life either. The targeted areas could all be evacuated so no one would be hurt. It would easy to control here, no insurgents, no loss of civilian or military life. I think I'm onto something here, I have to give Obama a call.

Based on my experience with the great SNES game called Simcity, I'd say it could work, I made a fortune building and rebuilding, and even sending tornadoes and fires across the city ;)

Ah yes...

Turning surveillance onto its own citizens was not enough.

Welcome.

Welcome to the "police state".

Who could not feel/see that coming.

and how!!!

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

I thought we were talking about Canada?

We could invade Canada too, just to keep things fresh.

I'm in Toronto now. I'll take a good look around and see if there's anything we may need here. A cursory glance tells me there isn't though. It appears that their culture is largely "borrowed" from ours!

You are all making the incorrect assumption that this topic pertains exclusively to the National Guard... it doesn't. There are several tiers of response & if the the ####### really hits the fan the Army Reserve (a federal asset) gets called out. It's called the CCMRF... CBRN Consequence Management Response Force. CBRN stands for Chemical, Biological, Radiological & Nuclear.

Homeland Security has a playbook (National Planning Scenarios) for potential incidents (15 total) and 12 are CBRN in nature.

Nice!

You guys are quite hilarious.

I have seen some docs on the corrosion of civil rights in the U.K.

It is not pretty.

And just to add to the mix:

the national ID cards (maybe, maybe not)

the thumb print to get a driver's license (saw an interesting video on google video with Alex Jones and his getting arrested for refusing the thumb print)

check points to verify paperwork

and more fun stuff...no need to keep going as my blood starts to boil about now...

:P

BTW thanks so much Joe Six-Pack for your video signature.

I hadn't seen that in over a decade...maybe longer.

So much hope back then...wow.

It made me cry.

:crying:
