Happy Thanksgiving, a day after, everyone! Sounds like lots of you had a very nice holiday. We hosted and it was fun but exhausting. Scott helped me cook and do everything and that was great. I intended to eat around 5 but some of our friends showed up late and then when I thought I was about a half hour away I realized my oven was OFF! So we didn't sit down till about 8. Oh well. It was all quite yummy and now our fridge is stuffed to the max with leftovers. I'm going to need to freeze a bunch of it! Those of you who like recipes, I made this and it was really good:

I realize it's after the holiday but you could always do it next year, or for Christmas! I also made pumpkin creme brulee with my cute new kitchen torch and that was fun.

Thanks for all the congratulations I put up some pics on FB which brings up a question: Why don´t I have all of you in my contacts there? Cuz some of you aren´t on FB? Then the question is why I think Kai had enough of the stories of half presents for his birthday if he was born around Xmas so he decided a month and a bit early was appropriate enough to come out

You're right; my friends with birthdays around Christmas always get the short end of the deal as far as presents go! With his birthday beforehand, he'll be able to ask for stuff for his birthday, and then determine his Christmas gifts based on what birthday gifts he got. Haha, is that greedy? Oh well. I have often used my birthday as a way to determine who to get Christmas gifts for (besides the obvious people I always get them for); whoever got me a birthday gift gets a Christmas gift.

And I am not on Facebook. Probably one of the last people on earth not to be.

Yes there is lots to be thankful for We had a great time with the family and spent a lot of time in the hospital with Kai too. They don´t say when he is going home maybe cuz we don´t really ask. We asked at the beginning but got all sorts of different answers. I think they don´t know it right now and so any date they would have given us would just be an estimate and could be totally wrong. He doesn´t need any machine support or medicine or stuff like that. All he needs to do is eat and get bigger. And he eats a lot He is 5 pounds and graduated into big babies room So my estimate is that he can go home sometimes before Xmas which would be awesome We can put him in a Xmas stocking

First time I started using FB I didn´t like it much cuz everytime someone sent me some application thing I pressed accept and then the page was overloaded with a ton of stuff I didn´t really use and it took ages to scroll down the page etc. So then I wiped it clean and I don´t really put applications there anymore. Maybe you should do that STP

Don´t put stuffings in the bird It can soak up the birdie stuff (I mean the bad stuff) and in the middle it might not get cooked thoroughly and then you might have some health issues

Sorry Marta, I read often, but don't post very often. I'm glad to hear that Kai is getting bigger and stronger and that he'll be home soon. I hope it will help you rest up when he gets home, and you won't have to be going in and out to the hospital all the time.

StP, I think that facebook started off a little poorly designed. After all, any website or software should really be designed to fit you, and not the other way around. I think part of the problem was that they let 3rd parties design all kinds of nonsense for it, that were confusing and cluttered the thing up. They redesigned recently and though it's still not fully intuitive, I think it's improved.

I bet he'll go home really soon... when I was born I was a few weeks premmie and weighed just over six pounds, but I went home straightaway, so it doesn't sound like he has too much more growing to do before they let him out

and in the meantime you guys can get everything completely ready for him

we put stuffing in the bird and it was fine

AND we didn't even use a thermometer, just cooked the damn thing

My mom is a neonatal intenseive care nurse and has worked with premature, very sick babies for many years. Of course, I am no expert, but from the stories I've heard from her, it sounds like Kai is doing wonderfully! I'm sure he'll be home soon and maybe it makes sense that they can't give you a date b/c they just need to see when he's ready & rearin' to go.

Aww Marta - I hope he is home for Christmas - it must be horrible knowing that he is there and you can't take him home with you just yet but at least it is for the best

I'm not too bothered by apps on facebook - I've got into a habit of changing my security settings on them so only people I want to can see what I am doing and then any things I get invited to that I have no interest in, I block so I won't get invited again. It's a bit annoying but it has stopped a lot of the junk I was getting before I also make sure if I add an app to check it out, I delete it if I don't like it and periodically I go through all the ones I don't like or use and get rid of those too

StP - I avoid the OT forum like the plague... too many "personalities" there. I'm all for people having opinions but when heated debates ensue... I'm too much of a pacifist - I would much prefer to keep my mouth shut, let people think/believe what they want and get on with my own life

huzzah for leftover turkey

so far we have had Dave's Special Leftover Turkey Sandwiches (recipe is secret ) on two occasions; we've just put a concoction in the oven, with pasta and turkey and corn and cauli and parsley and mushrooms and other stuff we had in the fridge, and we still have a big container full

it's really very cost-effective; I wish they sold cheap frozen turkeys the rest of the year
