...... I prefer a bolt action with a high powered scope, far more accurate and saves money on ammunition when it takes only one bullet to do the job. Black powder is fun, but man, the kick those things have.

either you've got a very light rifle, poor configuration with the drop and butt plate, or you might consider revisiting the load.

BP is a hoot to shoot and is more fun than that new fangled powder called smokeless

Lucky, to compare Obama to Hitler is not only extremely bad taste, it's also ridiculous. Obama's ideologically centrist. Hitler was ideologically to the far, extreme right. I find this kind of hate accusation by mealy mouthed cowards absolutely pathetic.

For the record, I don't buy the idea that there are a bunch of idiots ready to confront Obama with their mini militaries. Insane, completely insane.

I think Lucky listens to Michael Savage on a regular basis. The expressed views seem similar (and he has compared Obama to Hitler on several occasions) as is the almost constant anger and outrage.

I don't have a problem with people having guns, as long as there is a thorough background check. I also like the idea of mandatory training for gun owners, similar to say open water training for divers (certain people, like military & law enforcement, would be exempt from this requirement). The last thing we need is a criminal or untrained individual with a gun.

Yes that is a totally inappropriate & inaccurate comparison and Lucky should be smacked for making it. I'm no fan of the Bush administration but I've never compared it to Nazi Germany.

care to define "thorough background check" for me? there's already in place a name check on the buyer.

and this mandatory training - is that a pass/fail class or what?

I'll call the part in bold part B.S. I've witnessed too many people with this type of "training" as dangerous in their firearm handling skills and/or proficiency with a firearm.

National background check... pretty simple. As for the test it would be standardized, just like the open water diver example or a driving test.

That's not due to lack of knowledge, it's due to being careless. There isn't a way that I know of to eliminate stupidity... as long as people exist stupidity will exist.

hmmm we had to take classes and take the test for concealed weapon when we applied for it........the information was all about the hand guns not much for rifles ........there was a lot of information on what can and will happen to u even if u use ur weapon to protect urself........after passing the class we had to be finger printed and criminal history check done i guess thats what it was for not really sure.........but i dont think the class gave u anymore information than u can get on the net or from a hand book.........and if a person has a criminal intent it wont stop them just because they have to take some classes

There is no perfect answer... you could have someone with no criminal background who is an expert with a firearm go bezerk one day & kill a bunch pf people. All I am saying is that if you eliminate criminals from getting a firearm & give firearm owners a basic level of training you are taking reasonable precautions.
