I have to agree there. I doubt very much if any of those at the front of this thread will even acknowledge that they fell for this hoax, hook, line and sinker.

It does, however, serve as notice to both parties that this type of thing will be a part of politics from now on and they had both better be on top of the information technology out there to prevent this sort of disinformation getting a foothold. And maybe the media will do their homework before taking this sort of thing at face value next time around.

Frankly, when a media outlet I consider credible reports something, I believe it. When it turns out they were wrong, repeatedly, over time, I stop considering them credible.

MSNBC isn't the first to face this kind of problem in the media world. CNN was also affected when they posted disinformation on their website that affected the stock market. Interesting generality, Pooky. But while the "front of the thread" may have fallen for it, if you actually read the thread you'll also note most posters were not ridiculing Palin as much as they were laying blame at the foot of the people who vetted her - a valid point when you consider her other numerous, well document foibles.
