1). Ted Stevens wins re-election to Senate.

2). Due to him having recently been found guilty on 7 felony charges, Stevens will be forced to resign from the Senate at some point in the nearish future.

3). This will cause a special election for his senate seat in Alaska. Palin will enter and win that race, and become elevated from Governor Palin to Senator Palin.

Which job helps her seek the GOP nomination in 2012?

Senator or Governor?

I am thinking Governor, if she actually spends the next few years doing her homework. She is clearly an amazing campaigner, all she needs is some content knowledge.

But she has already been governor....becoming a senator will her her play on the national stage, which is what she needs (and gives her a chance to improve her knowledge/experience base). Edited by akdiver

She's an expert with the cheap shot or the snide remark. I think it all ends there. IMO.

...which is usually a clear formula for political success.

But to be fair - her race for governor was extremely clean. Night and day difference from this national race. So clearly she is capable of running a clean, impressive campaign. It's important to remember she probably had little input into how the McCain campaign was run.

I'm certainly no Palin supporter - but I thought you should hear about the other side of her coin (:

I actually found the way she could work those crowds quite scary. I'm not sure she new what she was igniting.

Angry people.

So..the crowd is angry. How does that reflect on Palin's ability to campaign?

From my understanding in Alaska, if Stevens isn't seated in the Senate, the Governor makes the decision about a replacement and there isn't necessarily a new election. I don't think she can appoint herself to the Senate. It will depend on how such decisions are made in Alaska.
