IRS Transcripts worth it?

I have everything ready to go for our package expect the IRS transcripts have not yet come (I do have our own copies of what we gave the IRS). Is it worth waiting for the IRS transcripts or should we just mail it with the copies I already have? The 90 day window is just opening in 2 days.

Included:

  • Joint bank statements
  • Copies of joint credit cards
  • Lease agreements (x2)
  • 4 x notarized letters from friends
  • Various cards addressed to us both
  • Copies of airline and hotel reservations we made
  • A letter from the church we attend
  • Various photos

P.S.

Is it ok to blank out the card numbers on credit cards?

Hello,

This is what USCIS have in the form.., you just need to put one of the following mentioned below.

" Financial records showing joint ownership of assets and joint responsibility for liabilities, such as :

1.) joint savings and checking accounts,

2.) joint federal and state tax returns,

3.) insurance policies that show the other spouse as the beneficiary,

4.) joint utility bills, j

5.) oint installments or other loans.

You dont have to put any of you bank account numbers or credit cards number.. Transcript of Tax Return under both of your names will prove the marital relationship..

I have never submitted our bank account numbers nor the credit cards number for security purposes.. Utility bills under your name or insurance policy that shows your spouse is your beneficiary will prove the relationship as well.

The USCIS policy is you have to submit the petition to remove condition "within" 90 days period, 2 weeks delay will not be a problem at all.

If the rest of your financials (bank accounts/credit cards) span your marriage I'd say the copies you have are fine, otherwise I'd wait for the transcripts. I would not (and did not) blank out the numbers on our docs. I recall someone here getting an RFE for blanking out the numbers on their bank statements. It may be up to the individual looking at your documents, but I would not take a chance.

blank out but leave like the last 4 numbers, it really doesnt matter, as long as it shows both of your names and address. I also dont see affidavits in your list (even though they dont have much weight, id still include).

Wait for the official tax transcripts.

That's my a-d-v-i-c-e to you. They are conclusive evidence that the USCIS bean counters and button pushers find easy to approve. Waiting a few more days for those tax transcripts may save you an RFE for more evidence later.

I edited this post because something in the board software changes my word "....advice..." to the word "...thoughts....." Is there a lawyer program (or virus) on here?

Tax transcripts are preferred. Only took 7 days by snail mail. You also can get them faxed to you the same day you call.

K1 denied, K3/K4, CR-1/CR-2, AOS, ROC, Adoption, US citizenship and dual citizenship

!! ALL PAU!

why dont you just call the IRS (1-800-829-1040) and request the transcripts to be faxed...I did and had them in my fax machine within 5 minutes.

my only question is do we need to include the state tax returns as well? not sure if you can get transcripts for them or should we just include copies of the e-file returns?

 I say that if at all possible you include the tax transcripts. Like others have mentioned waiting for them by mail only takes a few days (mine took about 5) or get them faxed immediately.

I didn't black out any account numbers but if you feel you need to I would only black them out partially...like someone else mentioned...leave the last 4 numbers visible or something.

Good luck :star:

Send the IRS transcript. If you can't wait the 2 or less weeks, have them faxed to you. I've done this twice.

But do send the IRS transcript, not just your H&R 1040 (anyone can do this). I've written about this in other topics. I received an RFE and in their examples/suggestions for evidence it states for the taxes to be transcript from goverment institution (IRS), so it's not only that they "prefer" it, is that they want it this way. So if this answer your question, wait for the transcript and don't send just your H&R document

BTW the transcripts where not the reason we got an RFE. I'm still trying to figure out why. We sent taxes transcript, joint everything, affidavits, lots of evidence and we still got the RFE. Our guess is that they want more up-to-date document (it's been a year). Also someone mentioned that they might have misplaced our file. It would seem that way because in their RFE it gives a whole bunch of evidence examples that we had already submitted with the application.
