Has anyone experienced the situation where the cheque has been cashed but have not received NOA1? However, we have verbal notification from the USCIS and was given a date. Does this count as the starting date?

Just ask them to send another copy of NOA1...its better to have "printed copy " than verbal "NOA1 " ....never trust govt lol

Thanks for the quick response. We called and they said they would send one off. Several weeks later, we called again and they said that they do not send copies but will send a note saying they sent an original copy.

I never received my NOA 1. After 30 days I was able to call and request they resend the document. However, they will not resend the NOA 1 until after 30 days no matter the reason. So I recommend you wait and then request they resend the document.

They said the same thing to me. I asked them how I was supposed to file my I-129F without the NOA1 because it is required for the K-3 path. I was put on hold while the operator checked it out and she came back online and said she was sending the document. I received the NOA 1 shortly after.

oh my so im not the only one.. they told hubby to call back again on oct. 16 again, a month to be exact if we didnt get our NOA1..

didnt they give anyone NOA1 over the phone??

It really depends on the operator and how helpful they are.

Thanks for all of the replies. We are not applying for K3 so don't really need NOA1 hard copy; it would just be nice to have it on file. Does it really matter whether or not we have a hard copy as long as we are in the system? We are registered online and have been monitoring that for any touches. We realize it is too early for anything to happen yet as our receipt date is August but at least we are registered as "received and pending" Prepared for a long wait.

I filed back in June 2008 and have yet to receive my NOA1, I had to call for mine receipt numbers. They keep sending me in circles, but as long as you have a receipt number you are good. I filed a K3/K4 and used the receipt numbers and it worked so you should be good to go, I'd prefer to have a piece of paper though but you should still be good to go.

My husband just returned home to NJ after a week long visit (first time after 2 months!!) and we did receive a letter from USCIS confirming receipt our application. Again they confirmed a duplicate NOA1 would not be sent - I guess the first one is lost in the mail system somewhere and as far as they are concerned it was sent. But they did confirm our receipt date (August 19, 2008) and receipt number so I'll take that as official confirmation that we have started the process.

Any other August IR-1 / CR-1 filers want to wait through the next ??? months together ?
