I have a nice 3 day break so I'm thinking yeah great! Gonna be fun! Got a few things to do - and have a nice chill out too.

And so this is the time my body decides, for no good reason i can fathom, to develop a kidney infection. I've had it once before and I remember the pain, which is like a constant ache in my side front and back, (though it moves to the middle near my diaphragm as well), interspersed with 'need a heat pad' agony, which pain killers don't touch. :crying:

And I can't get to the docs until tuesday cos its a bank holiday here

No shock to hear my new married name will be 'Murphy' cos I sure have all his luck

You poor darling ((((HUGS))))

Ok... drink plenty of water... cranberry juice is good too... but please do yourself a favour and have at least 8-10 glasses of water a day... ask me... I should know have been dealing with urinary tract infections for 3 years and more now. Take it easy too... this thing tires you out... relax and do nothing... I hope you are not like me coz I cannot follow my own advice to you.

Take care...

Paul and I met on the Bazaar on the 14th January (he joined my progressive rock forum that day)

July 3rd he flew to England to meet me

We fell in love while he drove all over the place coz I cannot read maps (we were supposed to go to Ingleton - but touched Darlington 4 times, Pierce Bridge 6 times, Scotch Corner twice and Bernard Castle twice and we never did make it to Ingleton)

It has been so long and so much has happened in between...

Arrived in Houston on October 29th 2006

Married 17th November 2006

Lost my father 8th January 2007 (all dates are a blur after this)

Thanks dude - I actually feel grumpy and fed up right now  Cranberry juice alas does nothing for me - tried it last time (a big deal for me cos I can't stand the stuff, lol) - if I had a hammer I'd probably be bashing my kidneys with it - so its prolly a good idea I stay away from power tools as well :D

cranberry juice and tons of water...

Don't know if any of this will help at ALL,but it was on a message board...Hope you feel better soon girly!!! (F)

My Mom used to get them a lot and always drank tons of the Cranberry juice to clear them up.... ewww I know.

Make a tea of the following and drink multiple times a day, supplimented by as much water and pure cranberry juice you can possibly stomach:

- Cranberry

- Raspberry

- Echinacea

- Chamomille

Cranberry and raspberry clean the system and help flush the kidneys

Echinacea is a good booster for the immune system and helps you heal faster

Chamomile will soothe you as it is an antiinflammatory and will help you get some sleep

I've had these a lot as a teenagerand I totally agree with Christine. However, what you avoid is equally as important. No caffeine, alcohol, chocolate, tomatoes, sugar, or spices. These irritate the condition. Also, women should avoid using bubblebath...the detergents in it can cause a UTI which then turns into a bladder infection and spreads to the kidneys. Other helpful foods are barley, fresh coconut, and dandelion tea.

Besides avoiding alcohol, caffeine, tomatoes, sugar, chocolate and spices, meat and animal products should be avoided for two weeks.

It is now clear scientific documented fact that the bladder infection curing properties of cranberries is a rare type of sugar called D-Mannose.

http://www.healingtherapies.info/D-Mannose.htm

Most common sugars will feed infections. D-Mannose is a unique sugar found in cranberries, it actually will keep bacteria from sticking to the many canals within the bladder / urinary tract.

Instead of; fruit juice sweetened, or sugar, or artificially sweetened cranberry juice for bladder infection, mix one level teaspoon of D-Mannose into 8 oz of pure clean water once a day.

It is unclear if D-Mannose is as effective in helping Kidney infection, but further research will determine this. As of this posting, I have not had success curing my kidney ache using D-Mann

Dunno if any of it's true..but maybe you can find SOMETHING to help!!! (F)

Hi sorry to hear you are not doing well..

I dont know if you know I am a Acupuncturist. I have a looked up some natural remedies and of course Acupuncture and herbal remedies as well as Natropathic and other forms of Therapeutic Modalities.

I looked up for you some simple ideas. some things you might look at to eat or not. also I always enjoy reading the Psychosomatic statements and reasons why one gets things.. always a interesting read..

As far as the Cranberry juice it is the acidity that helps. plus getting the increased fluids. If you have a lil bug those critters actually have lil hooks on em and they like to hang around a bit. The Cranberry juice actually acts like a denature for this bond with the hooks on these lil bugs.. I like to think of it like putting soap on the aphids on my roses.. it screws up with their sex haha.. so for bladder infection critters.. the cranberry naturual action is to break the bond screwing up the little hooks that they have thus they cannot hang around ultimaetly you get to feeling much better.

If you are experiencing some bladder trouble.. there is a excellent otc (over the counter) medication. it is called urostat .. for UTI.. they started to carry over the counter due to the amount of commonly gotten female urinary tract infections..

• Kidney:

problems are associated with indecision. • Kidney problems represent criticism, disappointment, failure; shame; reacting like a child.• Inflammation: fear; inflamed thinking; seeing red; anger and frustration about conditions in one's life. • Kidneys represent the realm of partnership, and appear when we are engaged in conflicts with our partners (not just sexually but in the fundamental way we approach other people). The encounter with a partner is an encounter with the unknown aspect of our psyche, and we are attracted to that which we feel we lack in ourselves. The kidneys job is to act as the central filtration plant and to control balance (acid/alkaline, blood pressure, water balance through diuresis).

Bladder:

problems represent anxiety, holding onto old ideas, fear of letting go, being 'pissed off' (UTI is usually at lover, blaming others).

• Inflammation: fear; inflamed thinking; seeing red; anger and frustration about conditions in one's life.

caring isn't caring unless the other person knows;

sharing isn't sharing unless the other person is included

I get kidney infections all the time. Why? Because I refuse to give up Diet Mountain Dew and coffee. Either one will pretty much guarantee a kidney infection in your future.

As mentioned, Cranberry juice is the way to go. I give it the double whammy....I drink copious quantities of cranberry juice as well as taking mannose.

From Wikipedia:

"Mannose is a sugar monomer of the hexose series of carbohydrates. Mannose enters the carbohydrate metabolism stream by phosphorylation and conversion to fructose-6-phosphate.

D-Mannose, which appears in some fruits including cranberry, may help prevent the adhesion of bacteria to tissues of the urinary tract and bladder."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mannose

Drinking cranberry juice and taking mannose, the kidney infection sticks around for 2 days at the most.

Drink one or two glasses of Cranberry juice daily to keep the kidney infections at bay. (I'm a slacker.... I stop drinking it, then I get another kidney infection)

Lady, people aren't chocolates. Do you know what they are mostly? Bastards. ####### coated bastards with ####### filling. But I don't find them half as annoying as I find naive bobble-headed optimists who walk around vomiting sunshine.
