Do you eat halal (ie meat that is permissble, but not necessarily slaughtered islamically) or zabiha (slaughtered islamically)? If it's halal, then jennie-o turkey ham is delicious. For bacon, try the beef variety. In my experience more fat = tasty.

I've heard rumor of zabiha chicken and turkey bacon, but haven't found it yet.

we shop here in beaverton, and here in tigard. one of the men who works at the place in tigard is from the same city as my husband, and he always cuts everything just the way we want it, etc. it's a very nice little shop. sometimes we go to 2 different east african stores on glisan, in portland, too. there's one on 78th, and one on 71st. they don't have nearly the same selection as beaverton and tigard though. i could ask around for someplace in vancouver, if you'd like. that's probably closer to you if yr in longview. i don't go to the 'couv very often, so i don't know right off hand. i'm sure there must be some places though, and there's a brand new masjid in vancouver too.

I would like to thank everyone for their responses. Im willing to travel to portland to get him meat as often as i can afford the gas but if anyone could find one a little closer i would really appreciate it, ive tried and havent had any luck finding anything in vancouver, just portland or north in olympia and seattle. i guess that what i get for living in hickville lol.

I never lived in your area, but try Zabhida.com (as above just type in your zip code) or online shoppes like myhalalmeat.com ... where they have wide selection of all types of meats including turkey, lunch meats, sausages, etc and best part they deliver! I live in a Muslim country, but I sure do miss Dearborn meat shoppes and that site ... I have not eaten good meat (clean or any meat products) since I came here =( Good luck!

I don't think I've ever seen beef bacon in our stores. Only turkey. I'll have to keep an eye out!

Beef bacon? this gem exists?!?! oh my! You know I tried the turkey smoked sausage last week for the first time and YUMMO!

Good luck in your search for places close to you..

Timeline: 13 month long journey from filing to visa in hand

If you were lucky and got an approval and reunion with your loved one rather quickly; Please refrain from telling people who waited 6+ months just to get out of a service center to "chill out" or to "stop whining" It's insensitive, and unecessary. Once you walk a mile in their shoes you will understand and be heard.

Thanks!

When I was unknowning and unsure of places. I have ordered from www.midamarhalal.com . They have a great selection of things. They have beef breakfast strips as well as turkey bacon. I really enjoy those products. Not to mention they have breakfast beef patties. If you are hypertensive or sensitive to salt, there will be no need to salt any of the other items you make to go with the meat. Take a bite of the meat and some potatoes and it will balance out the salty taste! It is a family owned business. If you call them and talk to them, they are very nice and helpful! Insha'allah, you will find a place soon.
