McCain suspends candidacy to take the lead in Wash crisis

Probably hopes to have the debates permanently postponed as he's going to come off as a goof during the debate anyway. He supposably told Obama they'd both meet and discuss this whole thing, then after getting off the phone has a news release about going to Washington? What a goof. They don't need him in Washington now, nor in November.

Completely agree! I wonder how noone else noticed that! McCain just did what he aways does: tried to make Obama look bad. My hubby WAS for McCain before he started his dirty games.

Suspending your campaign just doesn't make sense and given that the recent events have negatively affected McCain's poll numbers...if he got Obama to agree that they both suspend their campaigns, and then there is a resolution made by Congress on the financial crisis, he'll come out looking like he helped solve it. While there's nothing wrong with wanting to address the issue, this issue didn't just pop up over night. In fact, up until last week McCain kept on saying the economy was robust. What McCain fails to grasp is that this isn't just a recent problem that requires the Fed Gov't. to now fix, it's a cumulation of problems that laissez-faire disciples like himself created.

This is now a momentous issue for this nation and the world unless it is fixed in a bipartisan and timely manner.

As far as this financial crisis, I have to place the blame on both parties that have played politics with regulation and swapping sides on the issue. Watch this video

If the two of them can't handle going to Washington to um..."fix this mess" AND debate the issues at hand at the same time, there is something wrong there. They would have a lot more pressure on their plate as president. Move the debate to Washington, talk about the economy as the main topic OF the debate. Jesus, what better time to talk about their ideas, etc than right now?

There have benn laissez faire disciples in both the Republican and Democrat Party. However, until both parties are willing to acknowledge that laissez faire economics is a failure, we're not going to see any real, permanent solutions, only band-aids. The Republican Party, since Reagan, has championed that economic philosophy. It's time they own up to the realities of how laissez faire economics has now proven to fail and they haven't. In fact, many of them are blaming Clinton's Administration or Democrats. It's not political parties per se that we should be looking at, but the failed policies and bad ideas that have plagued our economy, then focusing on what real solutions will actually fix the problem.

How the hell is skipping this debate going to help the subprime crisis? And there has been no real debates yet, and with a little more than a month away from the election, what sort of intelligence is behind having less debates? McCain may as well just say "lets cancel all debates and pray", and I bet his Republican followers would still be parroting the same #######.
