So what?

It's a historic move.....

And of course the debate on friday is kaput.....

I don't think it's kaput since Obama said he does not agree to delaying it.

So if McCain is a no show does Obama win by default?

The guy is just way too old. Yes he is a nice guy but way too old man.. Look at how much GWB has aged in eight years.. When someone collects SS I think it is time they go.

What kills me if how the president can only serve two terms yet the Senators can stay on as long as they like. :bonk:

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

McCain and Obama SHOULD be working on this since they are SENATORS, that's their job.

Amazing how this point is forgotten and slips under the radar.

"To be clear, in addition to suspending his campaign to return to Washington to work for a bipartisan solution to this problem, this campaign is suspending its advertising and fundraising," McCain spokesman Brian Rogers said.

McCain and his top advisers said the Republican presidential candidate has not committed to voting for the massive financial bailout plan proposed by the Bush administration, with aides saying he will reserve final judgment until there is a final product.

A senior McCain campaign official said that the "Bush package is dead. This is a serious situation. Package must be resolved by the time markets open on Monday."

McCain realizes that you can't scurry back to Congress and vote present on this one...

There is an urgency and also a deadline.

I think this is a wise move.

His detractors will say what they will say.

Reminds me of the time Clinton tried to hit osama with a few cruise misslie in Sudan and Afganistan.

many howled 'Wag the dog..."

So if McCain is a no show does Obama win by default?

It would be funny to leave Obama waiting by the bar...

I guess he could drive so many points home at that point.

Its no surprise McCain's campaign is hoping for a postponement.

Can I get a round of applause for sanity here? Well said and noticed to the two of you.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

Not like the debates weren't going to be a joke in the first place.

Still, pretty funny that he is trying to delay them.

By the way, people should take a look at kaydee's topics for a good laugh:

And the problem here is what? I rarely ever see you post anything....I chalk it up to no independent thoughts of your own and an afinity to participate if only to disrupt ad absurdum......

I said this in the opening post...

He's on his way to Wash to do his job as a Senator, something Obama hasn't done since his election as a Freshman Senator.....

It's business as usual for Obama. He knows the weight of his input to this process, given he's a Freshman Senator, and chooses to stay away......Nothing new from him as he clearly sees no responsibility to live up to his obligations.

Heck, voting "Present" is better than doing nothing....

Ohhh mighty maverick leader !

He is working on something he is getting paid for! WOOOW! there is no other like this wise candidate! *sarcasm off*

McCain and Obama SHOULD be working on this since they are SENATORS, that's their job. This is pure propaganda.

They are working, sort of. McCain is running for the title of most absent member of the senate though, with 64% of all votes missed. Obama is managing a somewhat better record, only absent about 45% of all votes.

The problem is votes are done in person. Unless you are only campaigning from DC, its hard to travel and vote in the senate.

historic move? try stunt. mccain can't help with bailout negotiations, he's admitted repeatedly he doesn't know jackshit about the economy.

He was the co-author of a bill that most likely would have averted this mess back in 2005. The bill called for more stringent control of Freddie and Fannie......killed by a partisan democrat vote........

I think he knows enough about the economy and with the right people around him in the WH, such as possibly Mitt, he would still in the aggregate dwarf Obama in experience.....in all areas of concern (except organizing a community, of course  )....
