wow, finally some stats with some meaning

I second that.

So... Obama ISN'T proposing to raise taxes on all of us. Man some people had me convinced the other way all along.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

Not unless you are making over $600,000.

Darn! I guess that means I should vote for McCain then.

I don't really care about most Americans - they certainly don't care about me

f##k them.

Wow. And I thought that the Republicans* held the monopoly on what is to be considered patriotic or un-american.

Seriously - this should be their new party slogan.

"We don't care about most Americans"

*Just thought I'd try on Kaydees hat of ridiculous generalizations.

and how about you quote the whole of the post instead of the one piece that fits your agenda? Typical behavior.

As I said - I was trying out the tactics of the "other side".

You know... the people who feel the need to demean themselves with ridiculous diatribes about "liberals" and "left-wing" types.

hey, somebody's got to pay for a trillion dollar war and the bailout of the GOP's Wall Street croonies. Or did you forget that part?

of course they did...besides let the folks making 45,000 do it..they done it for the last 8 years

oh please, I am paying more than my fair share of tax (as are a huge percentage of the people in my community, oh and my husband too). I don't complain about it but I don't want some numbskull coming in telling me I have to pay more!! That really is taking the pi$$.

by my estimation, 1 out of every 4 dollars i make goes to taxes somehow - and that's not even counting gasoline. just state, federal, personal and property taxes. :protest:

hey, me too. there is a price to be paid for living in society. Now, if we had that $trillion spent on a useless war back ...

but you approved of that, just had no interest in paying for it.

i wasn't aware that state taxes paid the federal deficit

I did notice that you included federal taxes in your list, or am i mistaken? In any case, i'm sure you'd be the first to say there weren't enough police or to complain about the potholes or that the schools suck.

that just means you want something for nothing. why is it that if one conducts one's personal life like that, you're a freeloader but if you conduct your civic life like that you're a "patriot" ?

you noticed correctly. however, you also missed the point that state, personal property, and property taxes are about a large percentage of that ratio i was talking about - like about half of that total. you instead choose to ramble on about subjective matters like a war and patriotism and assume i want something for nothing

I thought there was a nominal tax increase, but nothing significant. Keep in mind, Obama's tax proposal brings back the tax rates of Clinton's Administration.

brit....Number6 is talking about me...This is characteristic behavior so don't be alarmed. He mimicks the sterotypical liberal; attack with innuendo over time.... :innocent:

But alas he becomes very irritated and reacts as you see above when the association to "liberal" is made.

He's convinced himself that if he says these things long enough it somehow diminishes the threat I pose to his (closet)liberal beliefs....

He needs your pity and understanding as he works through this difficult political season. If you believe in a God then please say a prayer for his recovery.

Amen!

Democratic vice presidential candidate Joe Biden says that paying higher taxes is the patriotic thing to do for wealthier Americans.

Biden says he and Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama want to "take money and put it back in the pocket of middle-class people."

Under the Democrats' economic plan, people earning more than $250,000 a year would pay more in taxes while those earning less — the vast majority of American taxpayers — would receive a tax cut.

The trouble is, Obama isn't going to give us a tax cut. He will give us a tax rebate. That means that the 40% of workers that pay little or nothing in taxes will get a check. That isn't a tax cut, that is a redistribution of wealth. It will do nothing to solve the deficit problem.

Money that will be spent supporting our economy. ;)

No trouble there. And yes, the tax cut itself can be legislated. As it can also be modified to be more in tune with the times. Otherwise, the current rates set wouldn't need to be revised/renewed/expired to make way for new legislation.

So you like the idea of redistrabution of wealth. And you wonder why the "socialist" label gets thrown around.

I thought it was about tax cuts. I guess you realized you'd be getting more under Obama, you decided it was about redistribution of wealth. By the way, all societies at all times have "redistributed wealth" or else they have imploded. Highly stratified societies are inherently unstable. Check a history book.

Unfortunately when the economy has been mis-managed, raising taxes is inevitable.

Why isn't tightening the belt of the national budget inevitable?

I want an America where a persons station in life is dictated by the choices they make and the work the provide.

that would be possible if we all started with the same privilages, but we don't

Anyone, regardless of where they start in life, can succeed in America. It happens all the time. We don't need the government taking from one group to give to another for that to happen.

Then no tax cut for you!

Next!

Unfortunately when the economy has been mis-managed, raising taxes is inevitable.

Why isn't tightening the belt of the national budget inevitable?

I can think right away how to save about $12 billion a month!
