I'm the opposite. I can't figure out what makes people vote Democrat-at least in California where I live. It simply blows me away that the majority of Californians are Democrats. We are in a state that has more people that stand to be hit by higher taxes under the Obama Presidency than any other state, and you know what? Californians HATE taxes.

Have you seen the numbers?...a comparison between Obama's and McCain's tax proposals. Unless you make over $600,000, you fretting over nothing. I have no idea what percentage of Californians bring home that much dough, but I've got a hunch that the bulk of us 'fornians are making well below that. However, under Obama's tax proposal, more Americans will get a tax cut. I'll see if I can find the comparitive numbers.

$600,000? I've heard right out of his mouth that it's $250,000. If people out here were buying all these $750,000 homes they had to have salaries pretty close to that.

I'm trying to access cnn.com but the page won't load right now. I watched them using charts...in terms of dollars and cents...the tax increase on those wage earners above $250,000 but below $600,000 was something like $1,200. Comparitively, Obama's tax plan would provide a higher tax break for Middle Income earners than McCain's tax plan.

Keep in mind, Obama's proposal is to have GW Bush's tax cuts for the rich expire and bring the tax rates to the amounts during Clinton's legislation when we experienced economic growth as well reducing the deficit.

Okay, so here is why I'm skeptical. Why doesn't he come out and campaign around tax cuts- and give clear numbers to people. Tax cuts are how you win elections but I don't think anyone is clear on who is getting a tax cut and who isn't. This should be the focus of his campaign, not "change, change, change, George Bush sucks and John McCain voted 90% of the time with him" That isn't working. And telling people to go online and read my proposal is a sucky approach too. Just tell me for God's sake. I've tried to read his proposal and I'm left with just more questions.

Besides, unless you can predict another tech bubble like we had in the '90s there is not reason for me to think this plan is going to create another surplus.

Republican or Democrat they are both messed up. And unfortunately they both are run by lobbyists . Thats who runs our country among others. But given the current administration and the LIES LIES LIES we have been told , I guess there is an option to vote Democrat. Which is what I have voted in the past, however I dont believe any of them anymore. And its just the same no matter who wins. I listen to Obama and I wish I could believe what he says but I dont. All I know is Evil has run our country for the past eight years.

Who can believe anything they say.

How long will we bury our heads in the sand and never seriously question what direction our country has taken.

Truth of Palestine

take time to watch , give yourself time to understand. Then make your conclusions.

Good points. Perhaps he doesn't any numbers come back to haunt him if they change or that people would get confused by all the numbers? There have been some non-partisan groups that have looked at both tax plans and have made reports on them.

I don't think income taxes alone will stimulate the economy, but putting more money back into the pockets of more Americans rather than a few, you have in essence an economic stimulus plan which is what Bush has done already only we haven't paid for it yet. I like Obama's claim that he wants to invest in alternative energy technology and envisions such technology bringing jobs to this country while helping us reduce our dependency on foreign oil.

We did have a real estate bubble, but instead of taking a similar path like Clinton did, bush ran it with a deficit the entire time. You run a deficit in down cycles, but you take advantage of booms to pay it back. If you keep borrowing, eventually you will run out of credit.

On the tax side of things, you can only cut taxes so much before there is nothing left to cut. While I understand why people like tax cuts, focusing on tax cuts is not very constructive.

Government costs money. Instead of focusing on lowering taxes we should be focused on fiscal responsibility. Anyone can cut taxes, but the question is, will that tax cut cost more in the long term?

Here is the link someone was looking for that has a pretty good guide to both candidates and their economic policies. http://money.cnn.com/news/specials/election/index.html

I was a Republican until I realized that I don't make enough money to be in their club. That, and their continued emphasis on steering any discussion of moral values toward gay marriage and abortion, yet never addressing poverty, health care, or education in the US.
