Passed interview, Green Card is in the mail

Hi All, well thanks to this website we did everything ourselves and just passed the interview. She said green card will arrive in 2 weeks.

Our case was based on marriage, wife was H-1 worker here in US and we have dated 5 years, married last year. We sent the application with everything in March. Our interview was last week in August.

The interviewer here in San Francisco asked only a few questions, and was very nice.

She asked me what her parent's names were and if we had ever spoken. She asked each what was the other's b-day. And then just general conversation, How did we meet etc...

So the only question I have is the 2 year conditional aspect; the green card will expire in 2 years. What needs to be done in 2 years? Is it another interview, or just sending a new application; or a specific form? What is the procedure like, is it simple?

Congratulations!!

I think you have to file to lift the conditions on the GC - 3 months before it expires.

Someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

AOS Timeline:

7/30/08: Sent AOS to Chicago lockbox

7/31/08: Received by USCIS

8/06/08: Check cashed

8/07/08: Rec'd NOA for I-485 AOS

8/07/08: AOS, EAD, & AP - Touched

8/08/08: Rec'd NOAs for EAD & AP

8/12/08: Rec'd Biometrics appt letter

8/21/08: Biometrics

9/29/08: EAD & AP - approved!!

10/6/08: EAD & AP - received in the mail!

2/06/09: Received interview notice for March 10th!!

3/10/09: Passed interview - husband's GC approved!!! Woohoo!!! :-)

01/2011: File to remove conditions

K1 process

10/05/2006 filled :)

05/03/2007 interview -> AP -> hell -> AP -> 9 months of AP Hell - 2 home visits :(

01/26/2008 visa in hand with a typo :(

02/03/2008 2 weeks more of waiting.... Visa in hand...... :)

2/20/2008 on US soil :)

2/21/2008 marriage :)

03/12/2008 Sent AOS/Work/Travel

03/16/2008 shows delivered chicago

4/12/2008 check cashed :)

4/13/2008 NOA's for all 3

4/18/2008 bio letter

4/29/2008 bio appt.

5/06/2008 RFE 2007 tax return

5/07/2008 returned RFE overnight

5/08/2008 received-lees summit

5/12/08 case updated online/RFE received

5/27/08 checked the website for the third time today -says AP and EAD approval letter sent 5/24- it was not updated online till today - and no e-mail update either

5/27/08 emails sent in afternoon AP and EAD approvals

5/29/08 AP touch

5/29/08 email EAD card production ordered

6/02/08 AP in hand

6/03/08 email EAD card mailed

6/05/08 EAD card in hand :)

7/28/08 AOS letter received

9/02/08 AOS interview

9/10/08 card production ordered email :)

9/17/08 welcome letter email and snail mail arrive same day

9/19/08 Greencard in hand :)

So we just fiel a form and that's it? Seems strange to even have a 2 yr condition if so...

Generally, you just file the I-751 form along with proof that yours is a valid marriage. You can start collecting evidence now - joint tax returns, joint bank statements, utility bills paid by one or the other; same health insurance; same car insurance, etc - documents that prove you have co-mingled your financial and personal lives together over the course of your marriage. There will most likely not be another interview but an interview is always a possibility. Be sure you don't forget to file during that 90 day window and not late as the consequences can be trying and unpleasant.
