Got a Notice from USCIS "REQUEST FOR APPLICANT TO APPEAR FOR INITIAL INTERVIEW"!

Notice Date: Dec. 29, 2008

Postmarked: Dec. 30, 2008

Recevied: Jan. 06, 2009

My schedule is February 13, 2009.

Some queries:

1. Just wanna know if others who receive notice for their interview has the same statement "REQUEST FOR APPLICANT TO APPEAR INITIAL INTERVIEW"?

2. Is this the only interview i will have or there's another one after this (final interview)?

3. What's next after the interview if everything is ok?

4. Please leave any tips that you believe maybe useful for my husband and myself! Thanks

Since I expected to receive it in late Spring, my husband and I were astonished....

The interview date is Feb. 20, 2009.

Regarding your questions:

1. Mine also says "REQUEST FOR APPLICANT TO APPEAR INITIAL INTERVIEW"

2. I am pretty sure that this is the only interview we are going to have unless there is a problem at the interview.

3. We wait for our petition to get approved and wait for our Green card in mail.

4. I have not looked at the letter in depth yet since I have a job interview tomorrow. I will definitely post it here when I make a list of things to bring with.

We tried to make an infopass to correct the missed letter in my husbands middle name on his AP, but alas it says they are all booked up with appointments. Sigh! The only other alternative according to USlessCIS is to resubmit another I-131 and wait another 3 months. Time is running out as my husband is going home the middle of March and we were told that it will take a few weeks possibly to re issue the AP even with an infopass. Another Sigh.

I'm amazed to see of many of us already have their appointment letter. Because when you look on local office for I465, most of them say that they are working on Nov.2007 cases!

I submitted my case to the Ombudsman and my reward from USCIS was an RFE, yesterday, after over 4 months of sitting on a shelf not being touched

I don't know what it's for yet, obviously, but we're 99.9% certain that we included absolutely everything that was required. It's probably just projection and everything but it certainly feels like someone got a call/mail from the Ombudsman's office, picked up the file, thought "I'll teach you for reporting us" then set about picking a hole in the file that they could RFE.

Worse, the RFE came before processing completed on my EAD (which is far more urgent to us than the interview at this point). Going from my previous contact from USCIS that said 'we're not obliged to process your EAD until 90 days after your most recent RFE return' (paraphrased) I'm gonna be waiting 3 more months for that too. FWIW, I was 87 days post RFE yesterday. Today I'm on zero

I can't believe this, After 4 months from filing and bugging USCIS and Ombudsman and after receiving my interview letter I get this email from CRIS

I was familiar with what happened to you - I grimaced when I saw a touch shortly after on the EAD too but no RFE for that one (finger's crossed) although I suspect that's on hold too by association. As I said to Dee last night (after she dragged me away from refreshing CRIS ), who cares how long the AOS takes, but they really need to quit messing with our EADs and APs while they're processing :angry:
