Hey guys! just updating... I got my biometrics appointment letter today dated 10/10..

Biometrics scheduled on 10/28/08 at 10:A.M at Dover,DE..yahoo!!! Hopefully after that there will be "touches" in my case.

I wanna ask for those who had gone their biometrics... Is it just fine to bring my passport/visa in my maiden name as my ID? I have my SSN too.. I still don't have any valid ID in my married name yet aside from my SSN. Would that be ok? thanks a lot!

Vida, just in case, you may want to bring your marriage certificate which should you both your maiden name and the new married name. The biometrics appointment took less than 15 minutes for me, and the staff was friendly and helpful. They just get your picture taken and your fingerprints scanned. Nothing to worry about.

Oh you absolutely do want to bring your marriage certificate with you! I didn't bring mine because it wasn't mentioned in the letter and I never even thought to bring it with me. And they would not help me without it. I had my SSN with my married name with me, but they wouldn't accept that. I even asked for a supervisor, but they set me back home to get the marriage certificate, which was 2 hour drive. So all in all it took me a whole day just for the 10 minutes it took to get my biometrics taken. So make sure you have your marriage certificate with you

On a different note, I received an RFE on my AOS yesterday. They asked for additional tax forms So I guess we'll be sending those as soon as possible to avoid any further delays.

Hmmmmmm....I'm a little confused but what else is new.

On Friday I checked the site, out of curiousity, to see if any of my applications had been touched. To my surprise, the AOS had been touched on the 16th. It states that they have sent a RFE.

Today, we checked the mail (only cause when hubby came home there was no power) and found a 2nd NOA for my I-485. My biometrics appointment for the AOS is on October 28 at 12:00 p.m. in Norridge. I'm so thankful that my hubby is off that day and can drive me to the appointment.

My confusion comes cause I've received the biometrics appointment but also will be receiving a RFE? Does this happen at times?

It is my understanding that you can recieve RFE's at any time during the process. I received an RFE after biometrics as well :/

which I sent in yesterday so hopefully in 2-3 weeks my case can get resumed! (so they can undoubtedly send me another RFE, ha!)

also, definitely bring a marriage certificate when you go to biometrics! I decided to bring mine at the last minute and man... I would have been screwed if I forgot!

I totally agree with bringing your marriage certificate. At my biometrics appointment, they did not let one lady to have her biometrics done because she did not bring her marriage certificate.

Suddenly I realize how lucky I was. I had my bio appointment scheduled just before leaving town. Since USCIS office is close to the airport I decided to go to USCIS on the way to airport. I thought I'd taken all the required papers with me (i.e. both NOA's, appointment letter and ID) but while waiting I found out that I-485 was not there. Fortunately, nobody cared about any paper except for the appointment letter and ID so luckely I could catch my flight in time. They didn't like me parking on the employee lot though

Hi Bluekiss..

When i went for mine on the 15th, i took my passport, SSN and the NOA'S with me, they only looked at the passport and the biometrics noa, they didnt even bother asking for my ssn.

And on the form you ll be asked to fill there is space provided to fill your ssn in. so i think all you need is the passport and notice of appointment for the biometrics, but take it along if you like ok?

But if you want them to make it in your married name please take your marriage certificate along, the officer said he would have been able to change mine there even if the ssn was not in my married name but he needed a copy of our certified marriage certificate.

I didn't bring it along, he said i could change it after the GC comes but said it sucks cos il be paying all that money just for a name change so said i might as well use the green card the way it is until i have to remove conditions in a year and half then i can fill my papers in my married name etc and it made sense to me.

Hi Everybody,

My husband went for his biometrics in Brooklyn on Saturday. It was easygoing, and everyone was nice. It took maybe a half-hour, including wait-time, etc... i had a little moment of pride because there were so many people from all over the world, waiting in there to get their prints done... and there was a guy working there who spoke several different languages and was there to answer questions and break the ice. Overall, a positive experience, thank God. We brought all the NOAs with us, but my husband only had to present his passport & the bio appt letter.

But now, alas... we wait so more.

I noticed that a lot of people have been getting RFEs for tax information. What kind of info are they asking for? Do they really give a close look at the Affidavit of Support so early on in the process? I would have figured there would be RFEs for really glaring omissions early on in the process, and that the details of the forms would be scrutinized later on. This makes me kind of happy, because the tax info was what worried me the most (I was a student until this year) and my case has already been transferred to the CSC without an RFE.

Also, envy_me, I would recommend removing the Check Cashed column (at this point, basically everyone's gotten an NOA) and replacing it with a check box for RFE. That way we can see how much the RFEs are delaying the petitions... Just a thought!

it is possible but the thing is what if a person has so many 3 RFEs or like 3 touches..

then we have to make 3 columns for the date just for that person..

it would eat the space.. it's not gonna fit..

i just get and post the general info needed but il try to think of a way for the additions..

How about if you add a column called #Touches and a column for 'Last Touch Date' ? That way you don't have to add 3 columns for 3 touches.

and stl thinking abt other convenient ways to record all case activities..

was thinking abt removing "sent column too", then renaming "received column" as "filed"..
