Dunno... I do remember that on Nip/Tuck, the hottie one went to like ONE Sex Addicts meeting and ended up getting it on with one of the ladies there; who seasons after proceeded to kill herself. God I miss that show!

I don't know the guy, so I have no idea if he is nice, horrid, whatever. I don't know enough about the theory of sex addiction to know if it's a 'real' addiction or a syndrome or a compulsion. I just don't see how if someone is standing up and saying "I have been cheating on my wife and I want to address this situation with counselling" that's somehow absolving himself of his responsibility/role as a cheater.

I can however see the point of someone claiming to be a sex addict as some kind of badge of honour and not doing anything about it as a way of excusing themselves from responsibility.

I guess the real thing is, what the clinic hopes to achieve and what the person entering the clinic hopes to achieve by doing so.

I have a hard time with the idea of sex addiction because it requires a whole series of complex behaviours to indulge it (whether it be cruising the bars for chick or dialling 1-800-getmeahooker) - so plenty of time to think about what you're doing. In that respect it differs from most if not all other compulsive disorders - and of course it goes without saying that you need a second person. Unless of course Mr Duchovny's problem stems from overuse of his own right hand...

Acquiring a sexual partner has become complex these days? I somewhat doubt it's any harder than acquring crack cocaine. You are right that the crack can't say no but then again, if you ask enough people you are going to get a yes even if you aren't good looking and famous.

there is no such diagnosis as sex addiction it is more of a compulsion..they label too many obsessive behaviors as addictions..
